The purpose of the Departmental Advisory Committee on Official Languages(DACOL), chaired by the Director of Programs and Liaison of the Treasury Board Secretariat's [TBS] Official Languages Branch, is to provide a mechanism for consultation and communication concerning official languages among the main players in official languages : the TBS, the Privy Council Office, Justice Canada, the Public Service Commission, the Translation Bureau, Canadian Heritage, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages(with observer status) and the departments and agencies(about 30). In the fall of 1998, the TBS created the ADM Advisory Committee on Service and Innovation, which has played a key role in developing a citizen centred service strategy for the government of Canada. This strategy has two pillars : i) responding to the needs of citizens for improved access and ii) improved quality of the government services. Various working groups have carried out this task, including a sub-committee on service improvement planning and implementation. The objective of the interdepartmental sub-committee is to help ministers, departments and agencies improve in a significant, measurable and durable manner the degree of satisfaction of Canadians with the quality of services provided by the government of Canada. The GOL Leads Forum is comprised of senior managers at the Assistant Deputy Minister and Director General levels responsible for coordinating GOL within their departments and agencies. Membership is not restricted to core departments. The chair of the GOL Leads Forum rotates with the host department. Meetings are held five times per year. The Interdepartmental Advisory Committee on the Chart of Accounts(IACCOA) was formed in May 1995 to advise Treasury Board Secretariat(TBS) on the Chart of Accounts, and to allow departments to help develop the policy. The IACCOA reviews each classification and revises the detailed codes. It has 13 members from departments of various size and complexity; representatives from Statistics Canada, TBS and the Receiver General(RG), as corporate users; representatives from TBS, as the organization that makes accounting and Financial Information Strategy(FIS) policies; and representatives from Public Works and Government Services Canada(PWGSC), which operates the central system.
