IATE incorporates all of the existing terminology databases of the EU’s translation services into a single new, highly interactive and accessible interinstitutional database. The following legacy databases have been imported into IATE, which now contains approximately 1.4 million multilingual entries: Eurodicautom (Commission), TIS (Council), Euterpe (EP), Euroterms (Translation Centre), CDCTERM (Court of Auditors).

OBS

TIS is an acronym for the Terminological Information System of The General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. The system was designed as a working tool for Council translators and has enabled the Terminology Service to provide a database of terms and abbreviations in the languages of the Communities. They do organizing drives, lobby governments at the federal level, provide legal advice, and representation in arbitrations. The UNW provides direct service to its members, representing them in job appeals, grievances and everyday workplace problems. UNW also prepares bargaining demands for contract negotiations. OBS

The first Representative Assembly of the Colony of Newfoundland was elected in 1833 and named the House of Assembly. This name continued to be used for the elected Chamber when the Colony was granted Responsible Government in 1855. In February, 1934 the Constitution of the Dominion of Newfoundland was suspended. At the time of suspension there were two Houses of Parliament namely : the Legislative Counsel, the Upper House and the House of Assembly, the Lower elected House. When Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949, the Terms of Union as set forth in the British North American Act of 1949(now cited the Newfoundland Act) provided that the Constitution of the Legislature of Newfoundland as it existed immediately prior to February of 1934 would continue as the Constitution and the Legislature of the Province from the date of union. Although the Legislative Counsel was not continued at the time of Confederation, the Lower House or the House of Assembly became the elected Parliament of the Province and the name House Assembly continued to be used after 1949 in the same manner as it was originally used in 1833. Therefore, the Parliament of Newfoundland and Labrador is referred to as the House of Assembly and not the Legislative Assembly of the Province.
