A breeding bird census will be carried out that monitors birds along the shoreline and Stormont Bay, and in the on-site terrestrial habitats. Counts will be taken at least twice per year for all birds(late May-early June and late August-early September), and at least once more(first two weeks of November) for sea birds and waterfowl. 1, record 1, English, - breeding%20bird%20census

1, record 1, French, - recensement%20des%20oiseaux%20nicheurs

Subsidence effects and habitat offsets. Environment Canada considered extraction-induced subsidence to be the greatest long-term impact within [Kendall Island bird sanctuary], with the major concern being the loss of terrestrial habitat due to inundation or increased periodic flooding that would interfere with migratory bird use. 2, record 2, English, - subsidence%20effect

2, record 2, French, - cons%C3%A9quence%20d%27un%20affaissement%20du%20sol

Many birds live and breed on the ground. The young of terrestrial bird species are able to look after themselves very soon after they hatch. The hatchlings, produced from relatively large eggs, are well developed. They are covered with camouflaged down feathers and have strong legs. Their eyes are open and they can feed themselves almost immediately. Terrestrial birds tend to be good parents. Both parents share the task of raising their chicks, which does not happen often in mammal parenting. 1, record 3, English, - terrestrial%20bird

With almost 200 species from 35 bird families, species richness among land birds is higher in Canada’s boreal forest than in many adjacent landscapes to the south. Canada’s boreal forest is the global nesting ground for more than half the populations of 40 land bird species and more than 80 percent of the populations of 14 species. Several of these birds - including Palm Warblers, Tennessee Warblers and Black-backed Woodpeckers - breed almost exclusively in the region. 2, record 3, English, - terrestrial%20bird

1, record 3, French, - oiseau%20terrestre
