Formed in the 1960s, the Mujahedin-e-Khalq(MEK) is an Iranian terrorist organization based mostly in Iraq, where it received financial support from Saddam Hussein's regime. MEK's principal objective is the overthrow of the existing Iranian regime to replace it with a democratic and secular government. MEK plans to install the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI), a political coalition of Iranian opposition groups affiliated with MEK, as interim administration and leader Maryam Rajavi as president. To achieve their objectives, MEK's past activities have included assassinations, armed attacks, hostage-taking, mortar attacks and hit-and-run raids against government and military personnel and infrastructure.

The Red Army Faction(in German : Rote Armee Fraktion; RAF), also known as the Baader-Meinhof Group, or the Baader-Meinhof Gang, which was one of the core groups within the RAF, was postwar Western Germany's most active left-wing terrorist organization. The RAF referred to its members as "urban guerrillas". It operated from the 1970s to 1998, causing great unrest(especially in the autumn of 1977, which led to a national crisis) and killing dozens of high-profile Germans in its more than 20 years of existence.

Weatherman, also known as the Weather Underground Organization and, colloquially, sometimes ’the Weathermen’, were a U. S. Radical Left organization consisting of splintered-off members and leaders of the Students for a Democratic Society. Its members referred to themselves as a "revolutionary organization of communist women and men, "and carried out guerilla actions, often characterized as terrorist, to achieve the revolutionary overthrow of the government of the United States. The group collapsed shortly after the U. S. withdrawal from Vietnam in 1975, which saw the general demise of the New Left, of which Weatherman had been a part.
