The activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT) is a commonly performed laboratory procedure which is used for multiple purposes including monitoring of heparin therapy, detection of coagulation factor deficiency, and detection of lupus anticoagulants. Among the hereditary coagulation deficiencies, factor VIII and factor IX are the most common. APTT reagents differ widely in both their sensitivity to factor VIII and factor IX deficiencies as well as their responsiveness. 1, record 1, English, - activated%20partial%20thromboplastin%20time%20reagent

An enzyme with proteolytic activity that catalyzes the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin during the clotting of blood. It is formed from an inactive precursor, prothrombin, in the presence of blood platelets, calcium ions and thromboplastin. 2, record 3, English, - thrombin
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Under the action of thrombin, which splits off a small peptide from fibrinogen, fibrinogen is activated and starts to interact with other monomers. The end-to-end association forms long fibrin fibrils, but apparently there is also some lateral staggering and cross-linking with other fibers to form a network. As clotting progresses, aided by the blood platelets, fibrin retracts, squeezing out the serum, and the blood clot is completed. 2, record 3, English, - thrombin

2, record 3, French, - thrombine
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 3, French, - thrombine

A system of standardizing the PT [prothrombin time] in oral anticoagulant control was introduced by the World Health Organization in 1983. It is based upon the determination of an International Normalized Ratio(INR) which provides a common basis for communications of PT results and interpretations of therapeutic ranges. The INR is derived from calibrations of commercial thromboplastin reagents against a sensitive human brain thromboplastin, the International Reference Preparation(IRP). 1, record 4, English, - International%20Normalized%20Ratio
