An ebb-tidal delta is a complex of shoals and channels on the seaward side of the inlet. It consists of sand that is intercepted from the longshore transport system and is carried seaward and deposited by ebb-tidal currents, where it is subsequently modified by incident waves and ambient tidal currents. Ebb deltas exhibit a variety of forms dependent on the relative magnitude of wave and tidal energy of the region as well as geological controls.

Tidal swamps develop in the zone of influence of tides, at the highest reach of tides and wave influence during storms. These are often thickets that can tolerate a short period of flooding. Some forested swamps exist where there is minor influence of high tides, but not long enough to kill the trees. An example is a tidal swamp forest on the levees of rivers where they join marine waters.

On a non-rotating earth the tidal wave is a standing wave with a node, i. e. a line of no vertical movement, in the centre of the basin.... On a rotating earth the node is reduced to a point, called the amphidromic point. The tidal wave rotates around the amphidromic point, usually clockwise in the southern hemisphere and [counter]-clockwise in the northern hemisphere.

Pour reproduire ce phénomène, le générateur le plus communément utilisé est un volet plan articulé autour d'une charnière horizontale à sa partie inférieure et actionné par un ensemble moteur, variateur, bielle, manivelle. En jouant sur le variateur de vitesse, on règle à volonté la période de l'oscillation. Quant à son amplitude, elle est obtenue par réglage de l'excentricité du système bielle-manivelle.

Les tsunamis, dénommés parfois «vagues sismiques océaniques» ou incorrectement «raz-de-marée» sont générés principalement par des séismes, parfois par des glissements de terrains sous-marins, plus rarement par des éruptions volcaniques et exceptionnellement par l'impact d'un gros météorite dans l'océan.

[...] le raz-de-marée n'a rien à voir avec les marées, qui sont provoquées, par l'attraction de la lune et du soleil; le raz de marée est provoqué par des événements d'origine terrestre. [...] Pour éviter l'association fausse avec les marées, les scientifiques préfèrent le mot «tsunami», officialisé en 1963.

In France, the most popular form of off-track wagering is the tiercé in which the better attempts to select the first three finishers in precise order.

In 1954, when the rest of the world was betting only the daily dobule and win-place-show, the French invented the Tiercé wager, whose objective is to try to pick the first three horses across the finish line, in order. In the U. S. this is known as the trifecta, and it's been available for no more than twenty years. The daily Tiercé race was televised nationally in France(it still is, almost every day) and a betting tidal wave ensued.

A double beating pulse characterized by two impulses occurring during systole. The initial upstroke rises rapidly and is referred to as the percussion wave. This is followed by a small dip and then a second slower upstroke called the tidal wave. This type of pulse is found in combined aortic regurgitation and stenosis.
