Curling began to draw recognition as an organized sport back in 1927 when the first Macdonald Brier was played at the Granite Curling Club in Toronto.... An administrative body for the men's sport was created eight years later with the founding of the Dominion Curling Association on March 6, 1935. In 1995, the World Curling Players’ Association was incorporated as a Non-Share Capital Corporation under Part II of the Canada Corporation Act. In 1999, a new Players Advisory Council (P.A.C.) was established by way of a national member vote.
