2, record 1, French, - pauvret%C3%A9%20absolue

Maintenance... Adding maintenance to the equation generally results in lower total life-cycle costs than design-bid-build or simple design-build for two reasons. First, maintenance personnel are part of the proponent's value engineering process during preparation for the RFP [Request for Proposals] submission. This ensures a focus on system maintenance and minimizing life-cycle cost, in addition to engineering ingenuity. Second, a design-build-maintain contract optimizes construction costs to minimize overall life-cycle costs. The successful proponent is given the right incentives to increase the quality of construction material to reduce total life-cycle cost of the project. This benefit is maximized if the contractor maintains the vehicles, rail systems, rail infrastructure, and operates the maintenance facility. 1, record 2, English, - design%2Dbuild%2Dmaintain%20contract

The first step in the development method is to lay out the most economically feasible subdivision plan and estimate the gross income from the sale of the lots, as if the tract were fully subdivided and sold. From the anticipated gross revenues, the next step is to deduct the total cost of development : the cost of installing streets and utilities, the expense of marketing the lots, interest charges on money borrowed, the cost of administration; professional fees, taxes, overhead, and the developer's profit for undertaking the venture. The balance is presumed to be the value of the raw land-the price which a developer would likely pay for the tract "as is", to be used for subdivision purposes. 1, record 19, English, - development%20method

These are defined as compensation of employees, per unit of real output(in the value added sense) in the manufacturing sector. Account is taken of employer-paid social insurance premia and other employment taxes as well as wages and salaries. The structure design is one of the fundamental defining subsystems of the spacecraft, and as such the AMP structure is the baseline structure. This structure presents several challenges to be used on a microsatellite, namely the cost, AIT operations and adaptability to change. Also, the fact that this structure has not flown before, makes it more difficult to predict what are the problems that one might encounter when actually building the spacecraft. On the other hand, this structure allows a generous payload capacity in a low total mass platform. The accommodation study performed, shows that it is possible to fit the mission in the AMP structure... 2, record 75, English, - accommodation%20study

The theory of marginal pricing is that, after a company's total fixed and variable costs have been covered by the existing volume of production, the cost of producing an extra unit of production, ie marginal production, will only be the total variable cost of producing and selling that unit. In such circumstances, the selling prices of additional units could be reduced, if necessary, to match the total variable cost without any loss of profit to the company. Any amount by which the selling price exceeds the variable cost of marginal output could then be an extra or marginal contribution to the company's net profits or cash flow. 1, record 79, English, - marginal%2Dcost%20pricing

Several [internal cooling] systems have been developed that incorporate three basic approaches : liquified gas, super-cold air with water vapor, and air exchange methods. With the liquified gas system, immediately after the parison has been expanded, liquid carbon dioxide or nitrogen is atomized through a nozzle in the blow pin into the interior of the bottle. The liquid quickly vaporizes, removing heat, and exhausts at the end of the cycle. In practice, this method has improved production rates by 25 to 35%. A disadvantage is the cost of the liquified gas. If its consumption is not precisely controlled, the total cost savings becomes minimal. 1, record 82, English, - liquified%20gas%20system

2, record 82, French, - balayage

In recent years, drinking water regulations for the removal of particles and total organic carbon(TOC) have become more stringent. Consequently, utilities are considering whether traditional treatment strategies... are best suited to achieving these new standards at a reasonable cost, or whether the use of innovative processes is warranted. Among the possible alternatives that are currently in use, microsand enhanced coagulation has emerged as a promising, low-cost alternative for many water supplies based on extensive trial and error pilot testing. However, because of poor understanding, there is no fundamental basis for deciding when, or if, the microsand process will offer advantages over conventional treatment, nor is there an understanding about the magnitude of the improvement to be expected. 2, record 84, English, - microsand

More energetic propellants may reduce the launch costs of satellites, as this allows an increase in payload for the same total launch mass. These cost reductions are crucial to maintain Europe's strong position on the launcher market.
