A technique for determining, by tracing imaginary rays of light from the viewer’s eye to the objects in a scene, the parts of the scene that should be displayed in the resulting display image. 6, record 3, English, - ray%20tracing
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Ray-tracing technique relies on an extremely time-consuming algorithm to compute the reflection and refraction of light from the surfaces of imaginary objects. Basically the computer program traces individual light rays, starting at the viewpoint and passing backward through each pixel in the image plane until the ray hits a surface. The reflected ray is then continued to see if it could have come from a light source, either directly or after reflection from another object. For a transparent surface a second, refracted ray must also be traced. 7, record 3, English, - ray%20tracing

... some substances are not being released into the environment in an easily defined way like from a pipe. Instead, they may be released into the environment because they end up in a landfill, and ultimately break down, and then enter a wastewater stream. The words "medium indicative of release to the environment" apply to something like that wastewater stream. Take for example a substance that is present in a consumer product and is released when the product is used or as the product degrades.... As the product containing the substance is used, traces of the substance may end up in municipal wastewater effluent. The presence of the substance in wastewater effluent is then indicative of its release into the environment. 1, record 8, English, - medium%20indicative%20of%20release%20to%20the%20environment

From the target level perspective, hints or pieces of advice are fundamentally different from explanations, and correction are likewise different from remediation, in that they only address behavior. Similarly, simple demonstration and traces of reasoning are restricted to exposing behavior in the domain without providing other forms of support for learning. Many granitic or gneissic terrains are weathered to arenaceous products. The crystalline rock is still recognizable by its structure, by the veins that cross it and by traces of fractures, but it is decomposed or "rotten. "The thickness of this arenization is quite variable, but in Europe it may reach more than ten meters and, under other climates, several tens of meters. This arenization is for a great part the result of meteoric alteration. 1, record 27, English, - arenization

It was a way of life. It was the backbone of a society. And then the cod fishery off the east coast of Newfoundland collapsed. Taking stock traces the history leading up to the crisis and the calling for a moratorium of the northwest Atlantic cod fishery. It presents the key players in this complex and tragic story, focusing on those who are now trying to come to grips with an uncertain future. How did the calamity happen? What signals did we ignore? Did we chose the right model in setting up an industry? Ultimately, Taking Stock holds a message for the Canadian as well as the global community : In trying to attain economic success, we must recognize that there are limits to how far we can exploit nature's delicate ecosystems.
