From the top of Big Baldy, a series of parallel chutes run through trees. They join with the NE facing slopes below the ridge at 7400 feet... Below 7400 feet, the track follows the canyon bottom. There are several small benches and terrain traps, but the overall angle stays at or below 30 degrees... Below 6200 feet, the track fans out on a shallow debris fan. The avalanche ran through the monitored site entirely, affecting the ski run below for a track of 50 m where it stopped its run leaving a deposit consisting of round-shaped blocks behind.... through a survey after the event, a series of very detailed nivologic information were collected... In particular strata profiles in proximity to the release zone and in correspondence to the major deposits along the gliding zone and the accumulation zone were carried out. Along the whole avalanche site a series of transverse sections were considered. Forest biometrician.... Participate in a team oriented research project assessing the carbon dynamics of forest ecosystems at country to regional scales, including the effects of changes in land cover, land use, and land management. The current research focus is to quantify the carbon flux(either sink or source) from changes in land use and land cover for several major boreal, temperate, and tropical countries.
