Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Along-track scanners also use the forward motion of the platform to record successive scan lines and build up a two-dimensional image, perpendicular to the flight direction. However, instead of a scanning mirror, they use a linear array of detectors located at the focal plane of the image formed by lens systems, which are "pushed" along in the flight track direction(i. e. along track). These systems are also referred to as pushbroom scanners, as the motion of the detector array is analogous to the bristles of a broom being pushed along a floor. 3, record 2, English, - along%2Dtrack%20scanner

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 OBS
4, record 2, French, - dispositif%20de%20balayage%20longitudinal

[The] push-broom scanner [is a] type of imaging system... commonly used in optical remote sensing satellites such as SPOT. The imaging system has a linear detector array(usually of the CCD type) consisting of a number of detector elements(6000 elements in SPOT HRV). Each detector element projects an "instantaneous field of view(IFOV) "on the ground. The signal recorded by a detector element is proportional to the total radiation collected within its IFOV. At any instant, a row of pixels are formed. As the detector array flies along its track, the row of pixels sweeps along to generate a two-dimensional image. 2, record 3, English, - linear%20detector%20array

2, record 3, French, - barrette%20de%20d%C3%A9tecteurs

Sensors aboard the Landsat satellites were built in a "whisk broom"(across track) configuration. Liquid mirror telescopes cannot be tilted and hence cannot track like conventional telescopes do.

4, record 5, French, - t%C3%A9lescope%20%C3%A0%20miroir%20liquide

CR-39 plastic nuclear track detectors (PNTDs) are made of polymers that are sensitive to charged particles of linear energy transfer (LET) greater than or equal to 5 keV/ micrometer. CR-39 PNTDs are usually made up of thin (approximately 0.6 mm) sheets which are assembled in multi-layer stacks exposed in three mutually-orthogonal orientations. Charged particles that pass through the CR-39 PNTD with enough LET break the molecular bonds of the polymer and form a pathway known as the "latent damage trail." As the amount of radiation the CR-39 PNTD is exposed to increases, so does the number of latent damage trails. 1, record 6, English, - CR%2D39%20plastic%20nuclear%20track%20detector

1, record 6, French, - d%C3%A9tecteur%20solide%20de%20traces%20nucl%C3%A9aires
