The MVTC, located in Blainville, Quebec, houses facilities enabling the department to conduct testing of automotive vehicles and related equipment, including child restraints. The centre includes a structural test laboratory, environmental chambers, a crash laboratory, a pedestrian laboratory, and approximately 25 kilometres of test track. The MVTC is owned by Transport Canada, and operated under a Government-Owned Contractor-Operated contract.

The Kinsmen Foundation was established in 1971 to manage the money raised by Saskatchewan Kinsmen and Kinette clubs. It quickly became apparent that the demand for dollars exceeded the dollars that were available. As a result, the first Telemiracle was aired in 1977 to enable the Kinsmen and Kinettes to serve even more of their communities’ greatest needs.

In December of 1994, the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean(TAO) Array was completed. The TAO Array is a series of about seventy buoys carefully placed in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Each buoy has special equipment that records information about the water and the air above the water. All of the buoys work together, forming an array, to give scientists a big picture of climate conditions in the area. The buoys send their data to scientists everyday by way of weather satellites that orbit Earth. Since 1994, scientists have been able to watch the water and the air for signs of El Niño. Once they notice that the water is getting warmer, they can keep track of the other changes and help to make predictions about the effects of El Niño better than they ever have before.

This Major Crown Project calls for the replacement of the automated portion of the Canadian Forces Supply System. The computer-based inventory management supply system will keep track of the 1, 400, 000 separately stock-numbered items of military equipment ranging from space parts to major equipment. Public Works and Government Services Canada, Industry Canada and the Department of National Defence are the departments in charge of the project.

Bench Method. Whichever hauling equipment or technique you choose, you must get as close as possible to the trunks to be loaded or bring them as close as possible to the trail to facilitate loading. The bench method can enable you, with reasonable effort, to bring the felled trees manually to within a 10-metre radius of the track. This method consists in creating a workbench from the felled trees themselves. It enables you to work with your back straight and to move the trunks without unreasonable effort. The first tree is felled and prepared so as to act as a support for other trees that will be felled on top of it. It must be quite steady, since the impact and weight of felled trees can crush the support and make it less useful.
