English

Subject field(s)
  • Experimental Farms
  • Plant and Crop Production
CONT

If an experiment in agronomy is to be worthwhile from the point of view of revealing information of importance to farmers, the same kind of variation needs to be present in the experimental plots as can be expected to occur in the farmer’s fields ...

Record 2 2013-07-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Research
  • Statistical Methods
CONT

Imbricated controls : the control plots are arranged systematically in the trial. Plot size and shape need not be the same as for other plots in the trial. The observations made in these plots are of a different nature and should not be included in the statistical analysis. The purpose of the arrangement is to ensure a more homogeneous distribution of the effect of an adjacent untreated area than is possible with the included randomized design.

Domaine(s)
  • Recherche scientifique
  • Méthodes statistiques
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Probability (Statistics)
DEF

The probability of false rejection of the null hypothesis.

OBS

e. g. of treatment differences in a field plot trial

French

Domaine(s)
  • Probabilités (Statistique)
DEF

Record 4 1997-09-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
  • Plant Breeding
CONT

’AC Juniper’ has a shorter and narrower flag leaf than the reference varieties. ’AC Juniper’ has a slightly earlier heading date and is shorter in height. The culm of ’AC Juniper’ is thinner and the panicle is narrower than the reference varieties. The kernel shape is less plump for ’AC Juniper’ than for ’Cascade’ and ’Derby’.

CONT

To identify QTLs associated with horticultural yield it is necessary to conduct replicated plot trials of the tested genotypes. The first step in the utilization of an introgression-line(IL) population of Lycopersicon pennellii in a processing-tomato variety(M82) for mapping such QTLs was to screen 51 ILs in a non-replicated plot trial. The results of this survey were compared to those obtained in a replicated trial of the same genotypes grown as single plants at wide spacing. Fruit characteristics were similar between the two stands, but yield was generally different.(From an abstract found in Dialog).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
  • Amélioration végétale
CONT

(Dialog).
