The frontal sinuses, one on each side, are variable in size and are the most superior of the sinuses... Each is triangular in shape and is in the part of the frontal bone under the forehead. The base of each triangular sinus is oriented vertically in the bone at the midline above the bridge of the nose, and the apex is laterally approximately one-third of the way along the upper margin of the orbit.

A small deposit of subperiosteal bone at the periphery of a bone tumor or infection. Radiologically this produces a triangular appearance on the surface of the bone at the edge of the lesion. A shape category for rough diamonds consisting of a contact-twin diamond crystal in which the two halves have grown with one half rotated through 180° to the other. A macle usually takes the form of a flat triangular crystal, the junction between the two halves being visible as a "herring bone" pattern round the edge of the triangle.
