A knee jerk which follows a tap on the patellar tendon but in which inhibition occurs only slowly and the leg, if dependent, swings backward and forward several times like a pendulum. This reflex may be seen in a hypotonic limb, as in chorea.

OBS

This reflex can also be elicited at the triceps tendon(triceps jerk).

Le réflexe pendulaire appartient au syndrome cérébelleux. Il se met en évidence pour les seuls réflexes rotuliens et tricipitaux. Le malade assis, jambes pendantes, au bord de la table d'examen, la percussion du tendon rotulien entraîne non pas une réponse, mais une série d'oscillations pendulaires de la jambe. De même pour l'avant-bras, après percussion de l'olécr ne, le sujet étant légèrement penché en avant, le bras maintenu horizontalement et l'avant-bras pendant.
