Amyloidosis is not one clinical entity but a group of diverse structurally driven protein deposition diseases. They are similar in that protein deposition occurs extracellularly and these deposits stain eosinophilic using standard tissue histologic stains, bind Congo red dye, and emit an apple-green birefringence using polarized light microscopy; exhibit metachromasia with crystal violet; and have an array of 75-to 100-Å nonbranching fibrils by electron microscopy and a twisted b-pleated sheet antiparallel configuration by x-ray crystallography. They differ, however, in the biochemical nature of the proteinaceous deposits, the "etiology" of the associated diseases(neoplastic, inflammatory, degenerative, hereditary), the tropism of protein deposition, and the spectrum of disease manifestations. 1, record 10, English, - amyloidosis

An insect's behavior patterns are key to its survival. For the most part, these patterns are inherited and the instinctive reactions they produce are called tropisms. A tropism may be either positive, if the reaction is toward the stimulus, or negative, if the reaction is away from the stimulus. Tropisms are named by using the names of the stimuli as prefixes which produce the reaction. The following are examples of tropisms which affect insects : Phototropism... Geotropism... Heliotropism... Chemotropism--response to chemical stimuli. 4, record 13, English, - chemotropism

Chimiotropisme. 3, record 13, French, - chimiotropisme

Both responses are moderated by auxin. In the case of light, the auxin moves away from the side toward the light and the cells on that side elongate more, causing the stem to bend toward the light. In the case of gravity and the root, the cells respond to increased auxin by decreasing elongation resulting in the root growing down in response to increased auxin by decreasing elongation just opposite to that of stems. 3, record 14, English, - positive%20phototropism

The Modular Cultivation System(MCS) is a multi-user capability for research into the early development events in plants; long-term growth stability; gravity influence during early development and growth; perception and signal transduction in plant tropism, as well as providing the possibility for research on insects, amphibia and radiation effects on cells and tissues. The scientific utilisation of MCS will be shared with NASA. MCS will be accommodated in a NASA EXPRESS Rack in the US Laboratory. MCS comprises two major units : Experiment Containers and the multi-purpose cultivation unit. 3, record 16, English, - modular%20cultivation%20system
