The toroidal propeller allows a small multirotor unpiloted aircraft, or drone, to operate more quietly than current drones that use propeller forms unchanged since the beginning of aviation. [It] consists of two blades looping together so that the tip of one blade curves back into the other. This closed-form structure minimizes the drag effects of swirling air tunnels... created at the tips of blades and strengthens the overall stiffness of the propeller. These features reduce the propeller's acoustic signature. 2, record 3, English, - toroidal%20propeller

The two principal means of limiting rotor power in high operational wind speeds-stall regulation and pitch regulation... Stall regulated machines require speed regulation. As wind speed increases, providing the rotor speed is held constant, flow angles over the blade sections... The blades become increasingly stalled and this limits power to acceptable levels without any additional active control. For this to work, the speed of the WT [wind turbine] rotor must be held essentially constant and this is achieved through the connection of the electric generator to the grid. 4, record 15, English, - stall%20regulation

The hot wedge or hot knife method consists of an electronically heated resistance element in the shape of a blade that is passed between the two sheets to be sealed. As it melts the surfaces, roller pressure is applied. An interesting variation is the dual-hot-wedge method, which forms two parallel seams with an unbonded space between them. This space is subsequently pressurized with air and any lowering of pressure signifies a leak in the seam. 1, record 16, English, - pressurized%20dual%20seam%20test

Backward curved and backward inclined blade fans. Backward curved and backward inclined blades are slightly less efficient, cost less, and generate slightly more noise than the airfoil type. The number of blades is usually ten to sixteen and the fan scroll is the same as for airfoil fans. Backward curved blades ... are constant thickness airfoil blades and are preferred over straight backward inclined blades ... because they allow smoother air flow and are stronger. Backward curved blade fans will operate over the full range of air flow from wide open to shut off, whereas backward inclined blade fans are unstable under flow condition below the design point. These fans are used in industrial applications in which fouling of the blades by airborne contaminants would minimize the efficiency advantage of airfoil blade fans. 2, record 47, English, - backward%20inclined%20fan

The easiest method is the T-stop. It is a simple process of touching the non-skating blade lightly on the ice behind the skating blade. The two skates are thus in the shape of the letter T. The same result can be achieved by putting the non-skating blade in front of the other. The movement has to be smooth, not sudden. 1, record 53, English, - T%2Dstop

Two theories are recognized on the operation of a propeller in converting engine shaft torque to thrust. The momentum theory deals with the energy exchange to the air mass acted upon by the propeller. The other and most commonly used concept in determining propeller performance is the blade element theory. In this theory(known as the Drzewiecki theory), each propeller blade is considered as being composed of an infinite number of airfoils(called blade elements) joined end to end, forming a shape similar to a twisted airplane wing. 3, record 68, English, - blade%2Delement%20theory

1, record 68, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20des%20sections%20%C3%A9l%C3%A9mentaires

In a single-crystal blade casting, the first element to solidify is a "starter block" attached to the root of the [turbine] blade by a narrow helical passage in the mould. The helical passage obstructs the growth of multiple crystal boundaries, with the result that the blade is formed from a single crystal. This crystal propagates in two halves around the strong-back. The two halves of the blade can then be joined by a process called "transient liquid phase" bonding, in which the halves are mated around a foil "gasket" of the same alloy as the blade--coated with boron to reduce its melting point--and joined under pressure. The gasket and the thin layer of metal immediately adjacent to it melt, the boron dissipates completely and the part solidifies while still under pressure. As far as can be ascertained, the join produced by this means in a single-crystal blade is effectively perfect. 1, record 72, English, - single%2Dcrystal%20blade%20casting

1, record 72, French, - coul%C3%A9e%20des%20aubes%20%C3%A0%20structure%20mono%2Dcristalline
