On the 5th of June 1968, the first International Children's Games took place in Celje, Slovenia. Les Jeux internationaux des écoliers furent fondés il y a presque 47 ans à Celje en Slovénie par Metod Klemenc, un enseignant et professeur d’éducation physique. [...] Depuis 1968, plus de 37 000 athlètes provenant de plus de 86 pays et de 411 villes de partout dans le monde y ont pris part. Les Jeux sont maintenant reconnus par le Comité international olympique.
