Consent secured by force or threat of force is not acceptable, nor is consent extracted from someone who is under the influence of drugs. Mere economic duress, however, is not sufficient to obliterate an otherwise valid consent, but this conclusion is increasingly under attack.... Young children cannot give a valid consent. Their parents must do so on their behalf.... In Johnston v. Wellesley Hospital, a 20-year-old underwent an acne treatment by a dermatologist when the age of majority was 21 years. The court held that the consent was operative because the plaintiff was capable of fully appreciating the nature and consequences of the treatment and could, therefore, validly agree to it. 2, record 6, English, - valid%20consent

There are four basic requirements of valid consent: (1) it must be voluntary; (2) it must be given by a person with capacity to consent; (3) it must refer to both the treatment and the provider of the treatment; and, finally, (4) it must be informed. 3, record 6, English, - valid%20consent

2, record 6, French, - consentement%20valide

In English law, a promise is not, as a general rule, binding as a contract unless it is either made under seal or supported by some "consideration". The purpose of the doctrine of consideration is to put some legal limit on the enforceability of agreements even where they are intended to be legally binding and are not vitiated by some factor such as mistake, misrepresentation, duress or illegality.... The present position therefore is that English law limits the enforceability of agreements not under seal by reference to a complex and multifarious body of rules known as "the doctrine of consideration. The term "peace treaty" usually refers to a treaty between belligerents ending a war, through sometimes it refers to a treaty to prevent future wars. The two concepts are often combined, because in treaties ending wars, the parties have often pledged themselves to "perpetual peace". The terms of such treaties, however, are often so onerous that they stimulate the defeated state, which has signed under duress, to renew hostilities when the opportunity arises. 2, record 19, English, - peace%20treaty
