substance dependence; psychoactive substance dependence; psychotropic substance dependence; substance dependency: In the DSM-5 (fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), the categories "substance abuse" and "substance dependence" have been replaced with the overarching category "substance use disorder." This change was made to avoid the confusion between "dependence" and "addiction" and the use of the word "abuse," which can be considered stigmatizing. 8, record 1, English, - substance%20dependence

Psychological thermogenesis : The psychological state may influence energy expenditure, as anxiety(or emotional state), anticipation, and acute stress stimulate adrenaline secretion, leading to increased heat production. For example, the energy cost of sitting at ease and sitting playing chess may differ by as much as two-fold—a difference that cannot entirely be attributed to muscular movement. Furthermore, the increase in energy expenditure when pilots are under air traffic control(or take off) is inversely related to their level of experience. 2, record 3, English, - psychological%20thermogenesis

Freezing increases the salinity under the ice; the dense water sinks to the ocean floor and leaves the arctic basins to enter the Greenland and Norwegian Seas, where it mixes with water that sinks under the influence of surface cooling. The resulting water mass has a salinity of 34. 95 psu [practical salinity unit] and a temperature of-0. 8° to-0. 9° C. It fills the Arctic Ocean at all depths below 800 m, the sill depth to the Atlantic. Ozone is formed in the stratosphere by the combination of O2 and atomic oxygen in the presence of a third body, usually on the surface of a particulate. The atomic oxygen results from the photolytic dissociation of oxygen. Absorption by oxygen takes place primarily in the visible and ultraviolet regions of the spectrum; the major part of the ozone absorption takes place only in the ultraviolet region. 4, record 29, English, - atomic%20oxygen

Consent secured by force or threat of force is not acceptable, nor is consent extracted from someone who is under the influence of drugs. Mere economic duress, however, is not sufficient to obliterate an otherwise valid consent, but this conclusion is increasingly under attack.... Young children cannot give a valid consent. Their parents must do so on their behalf.... In Johnston v. Wellesley Hospital, a 20-year-old underwent an acne treatment by a dermatologist when the age of majority was 21 years. Vapex(vapor extraction) is a relatively new process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen that involves the injection of a vaporized solvent to reduce the viscosity of the oil. The diluted oil is then allowed to drain into a production well under the influence of gravity. It is a potentially economic process that can be applied to reservoirs that are not suitable for thermal recovery method. In addition, the process has the potential to sequester greenhouse gases, and is capable of in situ upgrading of heavy oil. 3, record 61, English, - vapour%20extraction

The VAPEX process uses saturated hydrocarbon solvent vapour (ethane, propane or butane) in conjunction with horizontal wells to mobilize and recover viscous oils and bitumens from hydrocarbon deposits in which the bottom water zone (aquifer) is used to deliver the solvent vapour to the base of the reservoir. The process involves injecting a hydrocarbon solvent into the reservoir along with a displacement gas to mobilize the hydrocarbons in the reservoir and move them toward the production well. 8, record 61, English, - vapour%20extraction

Growing Degree Days. The underlying idea is that development does not occur unless the temperature exceeds a certain minimum threshold value or base temperature. The base temperatures are determined through research and experimentation and are different for different organisms. It has been found that there are many other factors, which may influence the actual temperature the organism is experiencing or that may influence their growth and development. For instance it is possible that the organism may be experiencing a temperature a few degrees more or lesser than that recorded depending on weather it spends most of its time in the shade or under direct sunlight. Precipitation and the presence of weeds may also indirectly influence the growth and development of insects and plants. The fertility and nutrient content of the soil is directly related to the growth rate of insects and plants. In light of these many factors and some other scientific considerations a base temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit is considered acceptable for all plants and insects. 2, record 74, English, - growing%20degree%2Dday

Color can dramatically influence the flavor perception of food. Food technologists often use various colored lights in their tasting sessions to mask the color of the foods being taste-paneled so tasters will make their acceptability judgments based on flavor rather than color. One study dramatically illustrates the influence of color on food acceptability... In this study, panelists were offered a dinner of steak, peas and french fries abnormally colored but served under color-masked conditions. Panelists enjoyed the meals until normal lights were switched on. The appearance of blue steak, red peas and green french fries was so overwhelmingly objectionable to some of the panelists that they became ill. 2, record 78, English, - food%20acceptability

General Reconstruction of Watermasses and Paleoprovincialism.-The global spatial differentiation of dinocyst assemblages(i. e., provincialism) depends on the physiochemical characteristics of the water masses in which the thecal stage developed, and on surface water circulation patterns. Dinocyst provincialism in the fossil record, first recognized in Mesozoic sediments... can be used to trace the direction, origin and intensity of surface currents in the past. For instance, assemblages in a given region that are under the influence of equatorially derived surface currents will become strongly altered if subjected to the influence of a current from high latitudes. 3, record 91, English, - paleoprovincialism
