Performance enhancement is the main focus of sport psychology. Accredited practitioners aim to help athletes develop mental toughness in competition, to maintain confidence in their ability to perform and concentrate on their job under intense pressure.

In addition to the empirical intervention research, recent research employing qualitative methodologies has greatly added to our understanding of the types of interventions and what type of sport psychology consultants most positively affect performance enhancement, as well as the personal growth of athletes.

Record 3 1980-08-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Reptiles and Amphibians
  • Paleontology
CONT

The African population, having apparently replaced the gavial-like dyrosaurids in Eocene times, seems itself to have come under pressure from a peculiar crocodilian with long, narrow jaws that evolved in Africa later in the Tertiary and survived into the Quaternary. This was Euthecodon. Its competition for the same ecological niche may account for the disappearance of the gavial from Africa.

CONT
