A seal is to show that an instrument was executed in a formal manner. At early common law sealing legal documents was of great legal significance. A promise under seal was binding by virtue of the seal. Today under most statutes any stamp, wafer, mark, scroll, or impression made, adopted, and affixed, is adequate. The printed word "seal", or "l. s. ", is sufficient. 2, record 3, English, - seal

4, record 3, French, - sceau

When hard braking is applied for slowing down or stopping after an aborted takeoff or emergency stop situation, the tire is locked up and can’t rotate, causing rapid heat buildup. When the tire begins to smoke, rubber debris build up under the tire. As the skid continues, more and more debris cause a barrier to form against the water, preventing it from escaping past the tire. A seal has now been created... heating the water under the tire to a point where steam exists. The steam is strong enough to support the tire and prevent runway contact. Should the skid continue, the tire enters reverted rubber state as more heat, steam and rubber debris continue the process. 1, record 8, English, - reverted%20rubber%20hydroplaning

Courts have used the word "consideration" with many different meanings. It is often used merely to express the legal conclusion that a promise is enforceable. Historically, its primary meaning may have been that the conditions were met under which an action of assumpsit(an early form of contract action) would lie. It was also used as the equivalent of the "quid pro quo" required in an action of debt. A seal, it has been said, imports a consideration, although the law was clear that no element of bargain was necessary to enforcement of a promise under seal. On the other hand, consideration has sometimes been used to refer to almost any reason asserted for enforcing a promise, even though the reason was insufficient(as in) promises in consideration of love and affection, illegal consideration, past consideration, and consideration furnished by reliance on a gratuitous promise where in fact there has been no consideration at all.(Yogis, 1983, p. 47). 2, record 15, English, - consideration

To this point, the words ’enrollment’, ’registration’, and ’recording’ have been used interchangeably. The "Statute of Enrollments" required enrollment, and the "Middlesex Act" required registration. Both of these procedures are the same and are satisfied by a memorandum or memorial included in the public records stating the names of the grantor and of the grantee of the instrument, and the interest purportedly transferred. Recording requires that a complete copy of the instrument be included in the public records. (Mapp, 1978, p. 48). 1, record 28, English, - memorial

In English law, a promise is not, as a general rule, binding as a contract unless it is either made under seal or supported by some "consideration". The purpose of the doctrine of consideration is to put some legal limit on the enforceability of agreements even where they are intended to be legally binding and are not vitiated by some factor such as mistake, misrepresentation, duress or illegality.... The present position therefore is that English law limits the enforceability of agreements not under seal by reference to a complex and multifarious body of rules known as "the doctrine of consideration. In most wrapping machines the loaves pass along a travelling band from the slicer, although the wrapper can be used independent of the slicer. As the loaves move along they pass under a roll of waxed wrapping paper, while two jaws move downwards and pick up the loaf inside a piece of paper of a size sufficient to enclose it, a self-measuring mechanism controlling this action. Then, by means of sliding plates which are timed so as to complete one operation after another, the paper is folded round the loaf. The loaf then travels along another band and passes between two plates, electrically heated, which melt the wax of the paper and so seal up the package. 4, record 75, English, - wrapping%20machine

A typical induction innerseal consists of a pulp board liner, a layer of wax, aluminum foil, and a polymer that is compatible with the lid of the plastic container. As the container and cap pass under the induction coil, a varying magnetic field heats the aluminum foil, which melts the wax and polymer, sealing it to the lip of the container. Thus, the innerseal leaves an hermetic layer of foil and polymer coating on the top of the bottle. If the foil seal is broken, any tampering is immediately apparent to the consumer. 1, record 81, English, - induction%20cap%20sealing

induction sealing : A cap sealing method based on the high-frequency heating of the cap and the inner seal, when placed on their container, in order to enhance tamper evidence and freshness protection. 3, record 95, English, - induction%20cap%2Dsealer

A typical induction innerseal consists of a pulp board liner, a layer of wax, aluminum foil, and a polymer that is compatible with the lid of the plastic container. During induction sealing, the cap, with the inner seal, is placed on the container. 2, record 95, English, - induction%20cap%2Dsealer

Impulse Trap. Under normal loads the discharge from this trap is intermittent. When the load is heavy, however, the discharge is continuous. This type of trap may be used on any equipment where the pressure at the trap outlet does not exceed 25% of the inlet pressure. 3, record 96, English, - impulse%20trap
Record number: 96, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The impulse steam trap operates on the principle that hot water under pressure tends to flash into vapor when the pressure is reduced. When hot water is flowing to the trap the pressure in the control chamber is reduced, causing the valve to rise from its seal and discharge the water. As steam enters the trap, the pressure in the chamber increases, causing the valve to close, thus reducing the flow of steam to that which can pass through the small center orifice in the valve. 2, record 96, English, - impulse%20trap

A popular TE option for food products packaged in glass containers under vacuum is the "button-top closure". These include lug versions used for jellies, sauces, and juices, and the threaded-seal version popular with the baby-food industry. A safety button, or coin-sized embossment on the top of the cap, pops-up as the jar is opened and its vacuum is lost.
