Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is a treatment for persons experiencing myocardial ischemia(inadequate blood flow to the heart) or myocardial infarction(heart attack).... Under x-ray guidance, a catheter is threaded through the femoral artery up into the aorta(large artery from the heart) and then gently advanced into the affected coronary artery. There, a balloon is used to open the coronary artery(balloon angioplasty) and restore blood flow. Sometimes a stent(a mesh-like metal tube that holds open the artery) is placed at that time to maintain good blood flow through the damaged area. 2, record 21, English, - percutaneous%20coronary%20intervention

Consent secured by force or threat of force is not acceptable, nor is consent extracted from someone who is under the influence of drugs. Mere economic duress, however, is not sufficient to obliterate an otherwise valid consent, but this conclusion is increasingly under attack.... Young children cannot give a valid consent. Their parents must do so on their behalf.... In Johnston v. Wellesley Hospital, a 20-year-old underwent an acne treatment by a dermatologist when the age of majority was 21 years. 3, record 47, French, - ignifug%C3%A9
Record number: 47, Textual support number: 2 OBS

7, record 47, French, - ignifug%C3%A9

Kyphoplasty is a newer treatment for patients immobilized by the painful vertebral body compression fractures associated with osteoporosis. Like vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that can alleviate up to 90% of the pain caused by compression fractures. In addition to relieving pain, kyphoplasty can also stabilize the fracture, restore height, and reduce deformity.... Kyphoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia. Using image guidance x-rays, two small incisions are made and a probe is placed into the vertebral space where the fracture is located. The bone is drilled and a balloon, called a bone tamp, is inserted on each side. These balloons are then inflated with contrast medium(to be seen using image guidance x-rays) until they expand to the desired height and removed. The balloon does not remain in the patient. It simply creates a cavity for the cement and also helps expand the compressed bone. The spaces created by the balloons are then filled with PMMA [poly(methyl methacrylate) ], the same orthopaedic cement used in vertebroplasty, binding the fracture. The cement hardens quickly, providing strength and stability to the vertebra, restoring height, and relieving pain. 1, record 57, English, - kyphoplasty

1, record 57, French, - cyphoplastie

The Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act(CRERA), which was enacted on August 5, 1983(Public Law 98-67, title II), contains the trade component of the Caribbean Basin Initiative(CBI) that was launched in 1983 to expand private sector opportunities and investment in nontraditional sectors of the Caribbean Basin Beneficiaries as a way to help them diversify their economies and expand their exports. The CBERA authorized the President to proclaim duty-free treatment to eligible articles from designated beneficiary Caribbean Basin countries and dependent territories. The first proclamations and designations under the Act took effect on January 1, 1984. The Act was scheduled to remain in effect until September 30, 1995, but was expanded in 1990 by the Basin Economic Recovery Expansion Act(Public Law 101-382, title II) with no statutory expiration date. The primary goal of CBERA is to promote export-oriented growth in the Caribbean Basin countries and to diversify their economies away from such traditional agricultural products and raw materials as aluminum, bananas, coffee, petroleum, and sugar. 1, record 64, English, - Caribbean%20Basin%20Economic%20Recovery%20Act

3, record 68, French, - vers%20de%20la%20grappe

In addition to extraction of the glucosinolates from RSM as a means of overcoming their toxicity, many investigators have attempted chemical alternation of the glucosinolates to destroy or remove the toxic compounds. Some have added unheated crushed rapeseed to the meal to provide a source of myrosinase, so as to autolyse the glucosinolates and liberate isothiocyanates, which are then steam volatilised. This is only partially successful since most of the isothiocyanates formed in rapeseed meal are not sufficiently volatile to flash off. Others have tried ammonia treatment and heat, cooking with soda under pressure, or treatment with ferrous salts and distillation. 3, record 71, English, - isothiocyanate

2, record 71, French, - isothiocyanate

This causes the shaft to hog(bend upwards). When at rest and cool, the shaft will begin to sag under its own weight. If the turbine shaft is not rotated, hogging, especially above a critical temperature, can become permanent and the shaft would have to be sent to the manufacturer for heat treatment and straightening. 1, record 80, English, - hogging

The standard of care that the court must apply in medical malpractice cases is not one of perfection; but rather is to require the physician to conduct him or herself within a reasonable degree of skill and knowledge. This includes skill and care with respect to diagnosis, and treatment of the patient's medical condition. It is an objective standard and varies according to the level of the experience attained by the physicians whose performance is under consideration. 2, record 84, English, - reasonable%20degree%20of%20skill%20and%20knowledge

An important issue for the treatment of pressure ulcers is the relief of pressure. A variety of mattresses have been used for this purpose, including various foam pads, air mattresses, and water beds. Acceptance has grown for the use of pressure-reducing devices such as air-fluidized beds and low-air-loss beds. These high-tech beds have been shown to dramatically reduce skin-surface pressure to levels that are less than capillary-filling pressures, even under bony prominences. 2, record 87, English, - low%20air%20loss%20bed

One frequently employed technique by which benefits are accorded under treaties to nationals is the "most-favoured nation" clause. A bilateral treaty containing such a clause confers upon the nationals of each contracting party treatment within the territory of the other as favourable as that given to the nationals of the "most-favoured" foreign state. An agreement to accord "national" treatment confers an even more favourable status, but this is more rare. 3, record 93, French, - acidification
