English

Subject field(s)
  • Occupation Names (General)
  • Plant and Crop Production
  • Horticulture
DEF

A person employed to tend, cultivate, or lay out a garden.

CONT

Gardeners with experience should cope with all the tasks needed to keep a garden under control – including weeding, grass cutting, strimming, pruning, planting, mulching, feeding, spraying and lawn care – and know when to do them. A top-notch gardener will be able to help you plan your garden, suggest and source plants and even mentor you, if you want to learn more. You shouldn’t expect a gardener to do the jobs that a landscaper would do, such as lay a patio, build a wall or put up a garden building.

CONT

It used to be enough just to make a fairly decent product and market it. Not anymore. In the ’90's, you’ve got to have a Corporate Soul. The consumer will want to know who you are before buying what you sell... Who you are will mean publicly stating your environmental policy, your stance on health care and child care, how(or if) you deal with an Apartheid country, what other brands you have or other names you market under.
