1, record 1, French, - syndrome%20de%20Rieger

IOWA CITY, Iowa--A 40-year-old Albion, Iowa woman today became the first patient to receive a small bowel transplant at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics(UIHC). Debbra L. Taft, who required the transplant after surviving a near fatal car accident in 1991, was listed in stable condition after the 6-hour procedure. UIHC transplant surgeons Youmin Wu, Maureen Martin, and Ferdinand Ukah, and transplant hepatologists Michael Voight and Donald Hillebrand completed the procedure using the small bowel from a teen-age donor. 1, record 2, English, - small%20bowel%20transplant

Sequential Extraction Processing(SEP). Iowa State University, in conjunction with the USDA, had developed the SEP process as an alternative to the wet milling of corn and small cereal grains. Using countercurrent extraction with ethanol, high value proteins and other coproducts can be extracted from the grain prior to fermentation. Pilot and demonstration scale trials were still required prior to commercialization of the SEP technology.
