In May 1976, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations entered into a federation agreement with the University of Regina, creating the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College(SIFC). The Agreement provided for an independently administered university-college, the mission of which is to serve the academic, cultural and spiritual needs of First Nations students. On June 21, 2003, the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College officially changed its name to the First Nations University of Canada. The university offers programs and services on three campuses :Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert(Northern Campus).

The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association(SEDA) is a charitable, non-profit organization that promotes speech and debate activities in English and French. The Association is active throughout the province from grade 6 through 12 and at the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. The Beginning for Team Handball in Saskatchewan started at the Cougars Coaches Clinic at the University of Regina on October 27, 1973. The clinician was Julius Fodor, who was the Canadian Team Handball National Coach. Many interested Physical Education students and teachers attended the clinic. They were very impressed with the game, and from this experience, things got rolling.

The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research is an aboriginal-controlled educational institute which affiliated with the University of Regina in 1983. Throughout the province, the Institute offers a number of programs and courses approved and accredited by the University of Regina. It offers Saskatchewan Urban Native Teachers’ Educational Program(SUNTEP) leading to a University of Regina degree as well as the Certificate of Human Justice through the Native Human Justice program in Prince Albert.

The Saskatchewan Police College, with offices and classrooms located at the University of Regina is under the authority and control of the Saskatchewan Police Commission by virtue of the Saskatchewan Police Act, 1990. The Saskatchewan Police College offers courses to members of accredited police forces within the Province of Saskatchewan. Candidates from other agencies may attend courses only with the approval of the Director of the Police Commission and the Director of the Saskatchewan Police College.
