The Klemheist knot (or Machard knot) is a type of friction hitch used as a part of a system to ascend or descend a climbing rope. ... A Prusik loop is wrapped round the climbing rope two or three times. The loop is then threaded through itself and carefully tightened to wrap the climbing rope neatly. In use, strain must only be taken on the hanging loop. Never grip and pull on the knot itself-a rapid descent can occur! If the knot slips when load is placed on the hanging loop, wrap the loop around the climbing rope another time or two as necessary until there is no slippage. 6, record 12, English, - Klemheist%20knot
Record number: 12, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The knot is tied with a thin cord, usually 5 mm or 6 mm in diameter, onto the rope. The climber then attaches himself to the knot by clipping the cord onto his harness. Progress up a fixed rope is made by sliding the knot up the rope and then weighting or loading it with the climber's weight. When loaded, the Klemheist knot cinches onto the climbing rope, allowing the climber to progress upward. When the knot is unloaded, it loosens, allowing the climber to slide it up the rope. 7, record 12, English, - Klemheist%20knot

The clove hitch may be formed by several methods. It consists essentially of two half-hitches. Its principal use is to attach a rope to an object such as a pole, post, or hoseline. Because it is highly susceptible to failure when repeatedly loaded and unloaded, the clove hitch is not regarded as suitable for use in anchoring a life-safety rope(or in a life-safety application). The clove hitch may be formed anywhere in the rope from either end to the middle. When properly applied, it withstands a steady pull in either direction without slipping. 3, record 14, English, - clove%20hitch

The unloading process commences when cars are spotted on tracks leading to a terminal' s trackshed.... The car is spotted over the unload position in the trackshed by a winch(cable carhaul), or by a shunt engine. It is then unloaded. The grain flows into the unloading pit where it remains until communication is received from the scale floor to indicate that the appropriate garner is empty. Communication between trackshed and scale floor can be carried out in a number of ways including a simple voice tube, telephone system or signal light system. "delivered duty unpaid" means that the seller delivers the goods to the buyer, not cleared for import, and not unloaded from any arriving means of transport at the named place of destination. The seller has to bear the costs and risks involved in bringing the goods thereto other than, where applicable, any "duty"(which term includes the responsibility for and the risks of the carrying out of customs formalities, and the payment of formalities, customs duties, taxes and other charges) for import in the country of destination. Such "duty" has to be borne by the buyer as well as any costs and risks caused by his failure to clear the goods for import in time. However, if the parties wish the seller to carry out customs formalities and bear the costs and risks resulting therefrom as well as some of the costs payable upon import of the goods, this should be made clear by adding explicit wording to this effect in the contract of sale. 2, record 30, English, - delivered%20duty%20unpaid

1, record 30, French, - rendu%20droits%20non%20acquitt%C3%A9s

"delivered at frontier" means that the seller delivers when the goods are placed at the disposal of the buyer on the arriving means of transport not unloaded, cleared for export, but not cleared for import at the named point and place at the frontier, but before the customs border of the adjoining country. The term "frontier" may be used for any frontier including that of the country of export. Therefore, it is of vital importance that the frontier in question be defined precisely by always naming the point and place in the term. However, if the parties wish the seller to be responsible for the unloading of the goods from the arriving means of transport and to bear the risks and costs of unloading, this should be made clear by adding explicit wording to this effect in the contract of sale. This term may be used irrespective of the mode of transport when goods are to be delivered at a land frontier. The Leonardo Multipurpose Logistics Module, which was built by the Italian Space Agency(ASI), is the first of three such pressurized modules that will serve as the International Space Station's "moving vans, "carrying laboratory racks filled with equipment, experiments and supplies to and from the Station aboard the Space Shuttle. The unpiloted, reusable logistics modules function as both a cargo carrier and a Space Station module when they are flown. Mounted in the Space Shuttle's cargo bay for launch and landing, they are berthed to the Station using the shuttle's robotic arm after the shuttle has docked. While berthed to the Station, racks of equipment are unloaded from the module and then old racks and equipment may be reloaded to be taken back to Earth. The logistics module is then detached from the Station and positioned back into the Shuttle's cargo bay for the trip home. When in the cargo bay, the cargo module is independent of the Shuttle cabin, and there is no passageway for Shuttle crewmembers to travel from the Shuttle cabin to the module. In order to function as an attached Station module as well as a cargo transport, the logistics modules also include components that provide some life support, fire detection and suppression, electrical distribution and computer functions. Eventually, the modules also will carry refrigerator freezers for transporting experiment samples and food to and from the station. 4, record 51, English, - multi%2Dpurpose%20logistics%20module

"delivered duty paid" means that the seller delivers the goods to the buyer, cleared for import, and not unloaded from any arriving means of transport at the named place of destination. The seller has to bear all the costs and risks involved in bringing the goods thereto including, where applicable, any "duty"(which term includes the responsibility for and the risks of the carrying out of customs formalities and the payment of formalities, customs duties, taxes and other charges) for import in the country of destination. 3, record 54, English, - delivered%20duty%20paid

delivered duty paid: Whilst the EXW term represents the minimum obligation for the seller, DDP represents the maximum obligation. This term should not be used if the seller is unable directly or indirectly to obtain the import license. However, if the parties wish to exclude from the seller’s obligations some of the costs payable upon import of the goods (such as value-added tax: VAT), this should be made clear by adding explicit wording to this effect in the contract of sale. If the parties wish the buyer to bear all risks and costs of the import, the DDU term should be used. This term may be used irrespective of the mode of transport but when delivery is to take place in the port of destination on board the vessel or on the quay (wharf), the DES or DEQ terms should be used. 3, record 54, English, - delivered%20duty%20paid

2, record 54, French, - rendu%20droits%20acquitt%C3%A9s

Service time is the time the ship is at the unloading berth being unloaded or serviced. Obviously it depends on the ship unloader(s) being used. Ship unloaders for grain are designed and specified for a particular unloading rate expressed in tonnes per hour. But in reality, the average unloading rate is very much lower than rated unloading capacity and, in part, is a function of ship size. The larger the ship, the more efficient the performance of the unloader and the shorter the service time. 1, record 59, English, - service%20time

2, record 59, French, - temps%20de%20d%C3%A9chargement

While grain is moving through the system, an extensive sanitation program ensures that quality is maintained. For example, many elements in the Commission's quality control efforts ensure that grain shipped is free of pesticide residues. It is illegal for a producer to deliver contaminated grain to a licensed elevator. If an inspector at the terminal discovers evidence of chemical contamination in a car being unloaded, he immediately orders the grain segregated. The grain is tested by the Research Laboratory and the owner of the grain is advised of requirements for disposal. 2, record 71, French, - rampe%20de%20triage

Binning grain by grade requires special skills. The elevator must ensure that small lots, which are purchased over a period of time and placed in a bin to accumulate until carlot quantities have been obtained, receive the same grade and dockage when unloaded at the terminal as was given to producers when the grain was originally purchased. For both caverns and tunnels, excavation is from the central tunnel ways using conventional mining techniques. In the tunnel concept..., the prepackaged wastes are lowered down the shaft and brought to the emplacement vaults by rail. 1, record 85, French, - d%C3%A9formation%20libre

Line drilling : In this method regular rockdrill holes, about 11/2 inches in diameter, are spaced 4 to 6 inches apart along the perimeter and left uncharged. Larger diameter holes could be placed at greater spacing intervals. The buffer zone between the perimeter holes and the last row of main round holes should be about 8 to 12 inches wide(the buffer distance). The drilled unloaded holes along the periphery alone provide a plane of weakness to which the rock will break readily and cleanly when the round is fired. 2, record 100, English, - line%20drilling
