"free carrier" means that the seller delivers the goods, cleared for export, to the carrier nominated by the buyer at the named place. It should be noted that the chosen place of delivery has an impact on the obligations of loading the goods at that place. If delivery occurs at the seller's premises, the seller is responsible for loading. If delivery occurs at any other place, the seller is not responsible for unloading. This term may be used irrespective of the mode of transport, including multimodal transport.

"carrier" means any person who, in a contract of carriage, undertakes to perform or to procure the performance of transport by rail, road, air, sea, inland waterway or by a combination of such modes. Il convient de noter que le lieu de livraison choisi a une incidence sur les obligations de chargement et de déchargement de la marchandise en ce lieu. Si la livraison est effectuée dans les locaux du vendeur, ce dernier est responsable du chargement de la marchandise; si la livraison a lieu ailleurs, le vendeur n'est pas responsable du déchargement. The German Thyssen company has developed a system for loading/unloading based on an overhead monorail transporter system for heavy loads, in which the containers are grasped and lifted from above by automatic carrier vehicles suspended from monorails running directly above the train tracks. The monorail can transport the containers either to a storage area, or directly to a truck loading area, where the containers are lowered from above onto waiting trucks(or vice versa from truck to rail car).

A monorail transporter and bridge ran between the warehouse and its adjacent shed, making cargo moving operation more efficient within the compound.
