Uno Vilho Helava, [Finnish] inventor(born [in] 1923)... invented the analytical plotter for automatically drawing maps from photographs. Helava trained as a surveying engineer and came to Canada in 1953 as a research fellow in photogrammetry at the National Research Council. By 1957 he had patented a method of using computers to produce maps from aerial photographs automatically corrected for the curvature of the Earth and atmospheric distortion. The first prototype was built in 1963 using the analogue computer then available... In the late 1970s(digital) microcomputers made the Helava system much cheaper, and several hundred plotters have been built. Because of its affinity with other technologies..., the Helava system is expected to become the world's standard method of making maps by the end of the century.

Dès 1957, il fait breveter une méthode pour produire, à l'aide d'ordinateurs et à partir de photos aériennes, des cartes géographiques automatiquement corrigées pour tenir compte de la rotondité de la Terre et de la distorsion atmosphérique. Le prototype est construit en 1963 à l'aide de l'ordinateur analogique alors disponible [...] À la fin des années 70, l'avènement du micro-ordinateur (numérique) réduit de beaucoup les coûts du système Helava et on fabrique des centaines d'appareils. En raison de sa compatibilité avec d'autres technologies [...], on prévoit que, d'ici à la fin du XXe siècle, le système Helava sera la norme dans le monde entier pour la conception de cartes géographiques.

OIDEL, the International Organisation for the Development of Freedom of Education, is an international non-governmental Organisation which has the specific mission to defend and develop freedom in Education in all its forms in every country of the world in conformity with the principles of the Charter on Human Rights. OIDEL was founded in 1985 by forty political figures who were also experts in education, parents of students. A little time later, OIDEL was given a consultative role on the Economic and Social Council(UNO), for UNESCO and for the Council of Europe. It also works with the European Commission and with numerous international non-governmental organisations. The Canton of Geneva, where the headquarters of OIDEL are situated has acknowledged the public service that the organisation renders.

L'OIDEL, l'Organisation internationale pour le développement de la liberté d'enseignement, est une organisation internationale non gouvernementale (ONG). C'est l'unique organisation dont la mission spécifique est de développer et de défendre la liberté d'enseignement sous toutes ses formes et dans tous les pays du monde, selon les principes de la Charte des droits de l'homme. L'OIDEL a été créée en 1985 par 40 personnalités politiques, experts en éducation et parents d'élèves. Peu de temps après, l'OIDEL a accédé au statut consultatif auprès du Conseil Économique et Social (ONU), de l'UNESCO et du Conseil de l'Europe. Elle collabore également avec la Commission de l'Union européenne et avec de nombreuses organisations internationales non gouvernementales. Le Canton de Genève, qui accueille son siège, a déclaré l'organisation d'intérêt public.

Two Latin maxims are often used to express the rules against double jeopardy :(a) nemo debet bis vexari pro una et eadem causa(No man ought to be twice troubled or harassed for one and the same cause) and(b) nemo debet bis puniri pro uno delicto(No man ought to be punished twice for one offence).

The main rationale of the rule against double jeopardy is that it prevents the unwarranted harassment of the accused by multiple prosecutions.
