Nuclear Power Demonstration reactor. This was the prototype CANDU reactor, and the first power reactor in Canada. It was located upstream of AECL' s Chalk River laboratories, along the Ottawa River's south shore(i. e. in Ontario). The reactor had a maximum continuous output of 22 MWe gross(19. 5 MWe net)... The reactor was built as a joint AECL/Ontario Hydro/Canadian General Electric project, and was initially intended to use a vertically-fuelled pressure vessel reactor. The design was changed in 1957 to natural uranium fuel bundles in horizontal pressure tubes in unpressurized heavy water moderator, with on-line refuelling. These are hallmarks of the CANDU reactor. The reactor had 132 fuel channels(each fuel channel comprised a pressure tube inside a calandria tube) and the coolant leaving the channels was 7. 2 MPa and 277°C. The main reactivity control was by adjusting the heavy-water moderator level, which could be rapidly dumped for fast shut down. NPD was finally shut down on May 5 1987, for economic reasons... 4, record 3, English, - nuclear%20power%20demonstration%20reactor

The Automated Transfer Vehicle(ATV) is a European cargo supply vehicle to be used for the International Space Station(ISS). It will be launched by an Ariane-5 Rocket from Kourou in French Guiana. The first ATV is scheduled to be launched to the ISS in 2003. The European Space Agency(ESA) is to launch 9 Ariane-5's between 2003 and 2014 carrying ATV's. Each 20 tonne ATV will be placed in 300 km, 51. 6 degrees orbit and will then manoeuvre to rendezvous and dock with the ISS. The ATV will provide unpressurized cargo, including propellant and cargo stored in its pressurized compartment including payloads and experiments. The ATV will also provide an orbital reboosting capability for the ISS and will later be filled with trash and waste which will be disposed of during a controlled, destructive re-entry. 5, record 7, English, - automatic%20transfer%20vehicle

Cargo Handling Interface Assembly. The CHIA is an external support equipment which provides interfaces between the cargo items and the ULC [Unpressurized Logistics carrier] in orbit, during the assembly and maintenance operations of the ISS [International Space Station]. Its basic design will interface plates or boxes where cargo items can be accommodated. The CHIAs will provide heating as well as a data bus to verify that the cargo items are in operational conditions and within their safety margins. Brazil will supply a series of CHIAs in quantities and shapes to be defined. They will be fully compatible with external robotics operations(EVR) and with the crew's external vehicular activities(EVA). 1, record 29, English, - cargo%20handling%20interface%20assembly

1, record 39, French, - proc%C3%A9d%C3%A9%20au%20sulfite%20neutre%20de%20sodium
