Cementer(Oil and Gas Wells). Cements openings in walls or casings of oil or gas wells : studies rock formations and well conditions and determines method of cementing; calculates quality and quantity of cement required; supervises mixing of cement and pumping of it to predetermined sections of well; determines solidification time and tests completed job by emptying well and testing for seepage. May supervise workers locating faults in casing, mixing drilling fluids and regulating pressure to control unstable wells.

Coule du ciment dans les trous des parois ou des cuvelages des puits de pétrole ou de gaz : étudie les formations rocheuses et l'état des terrains que traverse le puits pour déterminer la méthode de cimentation; détermine la qualité du ciment à employer et calcule la quantité qui est nécessaire; surveille le mélange du ciment et le coulage de celui-ci au moyen de pompes jusqu'à des sections déterminées du puits; détermine le temps de solidification (de prise) du ciment et examine l'ouvrage après son achèvement en vidant le puits et en procédant à des contrôles pour voir s'il n'y a pas d'infiltration. Peut avoir à surveiller les ouvriers chargés de déceler les défauts de cuvelage, de mélanger les liquides servant au forage et de régler la pression pour contrôler le débit de puits instables.
