La gouverne de profondeur est un volet mobile situé sur l'arrière de l'empennage horizontal, qui lui-même est placé vers la queue de l'appareil. Rules : There are 3 teams, each with a different color jersey.... There are 4 players on each team... The players on the defensive teams form a square around the ball. This same square constantly follows all the movements of the ball. Each player is responsible for a corner of the square and is situated about 10-12 feet from the ball. The ball starts in the middle and one team sets up a serve. The serving formation is as follows; 2-4 players kneel down facing each other with heads down and arms outstretched. The ball is placed on their outstretched arms. The server approaches the ball and says "Omnikin" and another color(example : Omnikin Red!) before striking the ball with the fist in an upward motion. When the color is announced and the ball is in the air, the corresponding team must catch the ball before it hits the ground. If successful, that team sets up the serve immediately. Pit sawing operations have a long and vibrant history. Well before circular saws were used to saw logs lengthwise, they were processed by placing them over a "pit"-hence the reference to "pit saw. "The saw operates vertically up and down. Operated by two men, a man on top, known as the "Top Dog", guided the saw as it was pulled down in a cutting motion by the "Underdog. "The "Top dog" recovered the saw and the "Underdog" then pulled it down in a cutting motion again. Needless to say the "Underdog" copped a fair bit of sawdust. The top of the saw has a fixed "tiller handle" so the topdog can guide it and cut a straight line. The lower part of the saw has a "block" which is easily detachable with a wedge. Frederic Dumas... developed a device for measuring in three dimensions. This tool can be used on a site in which both horizontal and vertical measurements are desired.... Dumas’ device consists of a square metal frame... with graduated sides... the frame is mounted on adjustable legs. A horizontal bar, also graduated, slides across the frame at right angles to two sides and to this is attached a graduated rod with vertical motion.... This rod can be moved back and forth across the bar as well as up and down. After it is placed over an object or section of the site, the entire device is made precisely horizontal. Surge-blocks, swabs, or plungers are disc shaped devices made to fit tightly within the well. Their edges are usually fitted with rubber or leather rings to make a tight seal against the well casing. Pipe sections are then attached to the surge-block to lower it into the well, above the well screen, and about 15 feet below the water level. The assembly is then repeatedly lifted up and down. The up and down action of the surge-block creates suction and compression strokes that force water in and out of the well through the screened interval, gravel pack, and aquifer. It works like a plunger in the way that it removes small obstructions and sediments from the well. The surge-block is slowly lowered each time resistance begins to decrease. 2, record 15, English, - surge%20block

Gyroscopes can be used as devices for direction finding, guidance, and control. If a gyroscope, mounted on its gimbal rings, is set spinning about a horizontal axis, and the outer gimbal ring is rotated in a horizontal plane, then the inner gimbal ring, carrying the flywheel, tilts up out of the horizontal plane in which it, too first lay. After a few oscillations, damped out by friction, the axis of spin of the gyroscope settles down along a vertical direction. Inertial guidance systems make use of very similar phenomena. Once a gyroscope has been set spinning about a chosen axis, any motion that would cause it to deviate from this direction calls into existence a torque that can be used as an error signal to control corrective maneuvers... Some of the most important applications of gyroscopic phenomena are in aircraft instruments. A free(perfectly balanced) gyroscope can give a constant indication of a chosen reference direction for checking the correct course, and a gravitationally loaded gyroscope can be used to identify the true vertical at all times and so define an artificial horizon against which the pilot can measure the angles of bank and climb. 2, record 20, English, - gyroscopic%20phenomenon

2, record 20, French, - ph%C3%A9nom%C3%A8ne%20gyroscopique

Two-degree-of-freedom, dry, tuned-gimbal gyroscope. This name is used to differentiate between this instrument and the floated gyro... In the static condition as the rotor is moved up and down, the motion is accommodated by the flexure pivots associated with the gimbal. This motion is resisted by the spring force of the flexure pivots. As the motor is brought up to velocity, a speed is reached at which the gimbal-flexure pivot combination is in resonance. At resonance no force about the sensitive axes(x, y) can be transmitted between the motor shaft and the rotor; hence, the two are decoupled. 2, record 21, English, - flexure%20pivot

Record number: 22, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A good understanding of the basic axis system used to describe aircraft motion is necessary to fully appreciate flight test data, since all measurements are referenced to this axis system. Aircraft translational motion is described in terms of motion in three different directions, each direction being perpendicular to the other two(orthogonal). Motion in the X direction is forward and aft velocity. The Y direction produces sideways motion to the left and right, and up and down motion is in the Z direction... There are several slightly different versions of the basic axis system just described. They differ primarily in the exact placement of the zero reference lines, but are generally similar in their directions.(For example, the body-axis system uses the fuselage center line as the x axis, while a wind-axis system uses the direction that the aircraft is moving through the air as the x axis.) 4, record 22, English, - body%20axis%20system
