Un registraire de nom de domaine est une organisation ou une compagnie responsable de fournir des services d'enregistrement au public. Un registraire de nom de domaine est autorisé par ICANN (l'Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, organisation consacrée à la gouvernance [d'Internet]) pour fournir les services d'enregistrement pour les .com, .net, .org ou est autorisé par son gouvernement respectif à enregistrer des noms de domaine pour un code national (par exemple .ca, .fr).
