The first Representative Assembly of the Colony of Newfoundland was elected in 1833 and named the House of Assembly. This name continued to be used for the elected Chamber when the Colony was granted Responsible Government in 1855. In February, 1934 the Constitution of the Dominion of Newfoundland was suspended. At the time of suspension there were two Houses of Parliament namely : the Legislative Counsel, the Upper House and the House of Assembly, the Lower elected House. When Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949, the Terms of Union as set forth in the British North American Act of 1949(now cited the Newfoundland Act) provided that the Constitution of the Legislature of Newfoundland as it existed immediately prior to February of 1934 would continue as the Constitution and the Legislature of the Province from the date of union. Although the Legislative Counsel was not continued at the time of Confederation, the Lower House or the House of Assembly became the elected Parliament of the Province and the name House Assembly continued to be used after 1949 in the same manner as it was originally used in 1833. Therefore, the Parliament of Newfoundland and Labrador is referred to as the House of Assembly and not the Legislative Assembly of the Province. 2, record 1, English, - House%20of%20Assembly

What is the upper atmosphere? The neutral atmosphere consists broadly of the thermosphere and the ionosphere. The thermosphere extends from around 80 kilometers to around 500 kilometers, and is characterised by a sharp increase in temperature, again due to UV absorption, and stratification of the constituent neutral gases. 6, record 5, English, - upper%20atmosphere

A multiple well system is a group of closely installed shallow tubewells, usually connected to a common header pipe or manifold and pumped by suction lift of a centrifugal pump. Such a system is also known as a well point system or battery of wells. The individual wells in a well battery may be strainer wells or cavity wells, depending on the characteristics of the water bearing formation. In areas where the water bearing formations are not appreciably thick, or good quality water is available only in the upper layers of unconfined aquifers, multiple well system is often beneficial. 4, record 22, English, - interconnected%20wells

Polyurethane leather is... in trend as a substitute for natural leather. It is used primarily as an upper material for shoes, bags and luggage, for automotive interiors and as a coating for ball surfaces, for example. The systems are suitable for use as a finish, topcoat, intermediate coat and an adhesion coat on textile substrates. The success of polyurethane leather is due in part to its economical production, but above all to its property profile which is nearly the equal of, and in some aspects superior to, that of natural leather. 1, record 32, English, - polyurethane%20leather

With properties similar to genuine leathers, PU synthetic leather has been widely used in the manufacturing of shoes, handbags, furniture, accessories, and sports equipment. Superior durability, good hand, and breathability have truly made PU synthetic leather a perfect substitute for genuine leather. The deposit has been drilled and the cores have been analyzed mineralogically and chemically. Drilling has shown that the... altered rocks contain about 50% quartz and fine amorphous silica and 50% of a mix of halloysite, kaolinite, and allophane with a small amount of plagioclase feldspar in the coarse fraction. Downy Mildew of Cabbage. Caused by the fungus Peronospora parasitica. Damage occurs mostly to young plants or to exposed leaves of heading plants. 2, record 42, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20cabbage
Record number: 42, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The fungus causing downy mildew of cabbage also attacks other crucifers, such as cauliflower, collards, Chinese cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi... The first symptoms of downy mildew are the formation of black specks and yellow-brown spots on the upper leaf surface, accompanied by the development of a fluffy mold growth on the lower surface. Young leaves may fall off when infected, and on older leaves, the spots may coalesce, producing large, sunken, tan spots. The disease can attack young seedlings or plants that have already headed. On older cabbage plants, the disease produces dark, sunken spots, which may appear purplish, on the head or wrapper leaves. 3, record 42, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20cabbage

Depth hoar [are] large coarse recrystallized grains of snow that are the end result of the faceting or squaring process within the snowpack, a process driven by temperature gradients. Such crystals are often weak and develop as a result of(locally) strong temperature gradients and resulting vapor pressure differences in the snowpack, especially in shallow snowpacks with cold air temperatures. These grains are formed through re-crystallization of existing snow grains as water vapor is transferred(sublimation and deposition) from warmer regions of higher vapor pressure(near the ground) to colder regions with lower vapor pressure(upper layers closer to the snow surface). 6, record 64, English, - depth%20hoar

CEDAR is a broad-based, community-initiated, upper atmospheric research program. The goal is to understand the behavior of atmospheric regions from the middle atmosphere upward through the thermosphere and ionosphere into the exosphere in terms of coupling, energetics, chemistry, and dynamics on regional and global scales. These processes are related to the sources of perturbations that propagate upward from the lower atmosphere as well as to solar radiation and particle inputs from above. In infantile spasms(salaam seizures), a child lying on his back suddenly raises and bends the arms, bends the neck and upper body forward, and straightens the legs. Infantile spasms is now the preferred term, but West syndrome is often used synonymously. 6, record 70, French, - spasme%20infantile
