The principal aims of the GUAN(Global Upper Air Network) project are to ensure a relatively homogenous distribution of upper air stations that meet specific record length and homogeneity requirements outlined by GCOS(Global Climate Observing System) and to develop, and make available, their current and historical data. 2, record 1, English, - Global%20Upper%20Air%20Network

... the upper-air observation network is less dense than the surface observation network, and observations are taken less frequently. Currently, the average separation between rawinsonde stations in the continental US is about 315 km, and observations are made twice daily (at 0000 UTC and 1200 UTC[Universal Time Coordinated]). 4, record 2, English, - upper%2Dair%20observation%20network

1, record 2, French, - r%C3%A9seau%20d%27observation%20en%20altitude
