UPPER LEVEL FLOW [4 records]

Record 1 2015-03-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Ecosystems
CONT

The upper limit of density is determined by the energy flow(productivity) in the ecosystem, the trophic level to which the organism belongs.

OBS

Most [impact] assessment reports included only scattered references to ecological principles, usually in connection with species - habitat interactions, natural succession in plant communities and energy and nutrient transfers in aquatic systems.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Écosystèmes
CONT

Record 2 2008-01-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
  • Special-Language Phraseology
OBS

Differential adjustment : An aircraft has its wing defined as a wing-like body with a tangential flow rotor in the leading edge. A shroud, under the lower part of the tangential flow rotor, terminates in at least one movable flap defining a lift-generating lip when the rotor is rotating such that the upper part of the rotor, projecting above the level of the upper surface of the wing-like body, is moving rearwardly. Differential adjustment of the flaps in the wings to either side of an aircraft centerline allows directional control and control of banking of the aircraft.

PHR

Differentially adjust the camber of the wing, the intensity of drop-lights, the lift-producing device, the pitch of the wing.

Domaine(s)
  • Aérotechnique et maintenance
  • Phraséologie des langues de spécialité
OBS

Record 3 2006-08-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atmospheric Physics
CONT

The upper flow has shifted to the north. [Example approved by the Avalanche Bulletin Terminology Standardization Committee.]

CONT

The upper-level flow is directly over the region. [Example approved by the Avalanche Bulletin Terminology Standardization Committee. ]

OBS

upper flow; upper-level flow : terms officially approved by the Avalanche Bulletin Terminology Standardization Committee.

Key term(s)
  • upper level flow

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique de l'atmosphère
CONT

Record 4 2003-07-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Meteorology
DEF

Progressive drawing apart of the streamlines in the direction of flow.

OBS

Difluence in an upper level wind field is considered a favorable condition for severe thunderstorm development(if other parameters are also favorable). But difluence is not the same as divergence. In a difluent flow, winds normally decelerate as they move through the region of difluence, resulting in speed convergence which offsets the apparent diverging effect of the difluent flow.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Météorologie
DEF
