The SLUFAE(Surface-Launched Unit, Fuel-Air Explosive) system is a self-propelled MLRS [multiple-launch rocket system] designed primarily for standoff demolition of minefields. The project was initiated in the mid-1970s by the US Army and Navy. The primary customer was to be the US Marine Corps. It was extensively tested in 1976 through 1978. Though its results were deemed satisfactory, it was never accepted into service, and the CATFAE(CATapult-Launched Fuel-Air Explosive) eventually took its place in development. 3, record 7, English, - SLUFAE

WWII definition confirmed in CFP 152, the Canadian Forces Seamanship Manual. Corresponded to US Navy "destroyer escort" of the day. After WWII, Can. Navy adopted the term destroyer escort for newly-constructed vessels. Nowadays, the Canadian, U. S. and British navies all use the term frigate to mean a warship slightly smaller than and generally not as powerfully armed as a destroyer(although there is some overlap). With the possible exception of the DDH-280 class ships(classified as destroyers by Jane's Fighting Ships), all of Canada's present day "destroyers" are actually frigates, the word destroyer being used as a short form of "destroyer escort", which was their original classification. 5, record 11, English, - frigate

The US Navy's Fleet Satellite Communications System(FLTSATCOM) is a constellation of five operational satellites used by both the Navy and Air Force as well as the presidential command network. The system with a design life of five years, serves as a secure communications link between the three users. Each satellite has 23 communications channels, 10 of which are used by the Navy for communication between its land forces, ships and aircraft. The Air Force uses 12 of the channels as part of its satellite communications system for command and control of nuclear forces. One channel is reserved for US national command authorities. 2, record 13, English, - fleet%20satellite%20communications%20system

FLTSATCOM systems feature a main transmitting antenna that is 11 feet in diameter and surrounded by wire mesh screen. The body itself is hexagonal and is 8 inches wide and 4 feet tall. The synoptic code is the WMO standard method for transmitting surface weather information via communications circuits. It is universal in that there are formats for data collected in several units (for wind speed), contains no plain language information (i.e., it is entirely numeric), is always in the same format, etc. There are allowances for each individual country to include national data which are not necessarily of interest to the rest of the world. This code has its own tables, etc., which are for the most part different from those used in the airways code, but is much more systematic ... 5, record 16, English, - international%20synoptic%20surface%20observation%20code

4, record 16, French, - code%20synoptique%20international%20d%27observation%20en%20surface
