The Treasury Board encourages authorized individuals to use electronic networks to conduct the business of government, to communicate with other authorized individuals and with the public, to gather information relevant to their duties, and to develop expertise in using such networks. Because electronic networks permit individuals who use them to inadvertently or deliberately damage a positive work environment, to disclose classified or designated information in an unauthorized fashion, or for unlawful activities, the Treasury Board is instituting this policy to help authorized individuals get the most benefit from electronic networks and to provide guidance regarding unacceptable conduct on such networks. 2, record 42, English, - Policy%20on%20the%20Use%20of%20Electronic%20Networks

Nature of gratuitous loan for use. In deposit and mandate the bailor has all the advantages of the bailment. In gratuitous loan for use the reverse is the case. This is a bailment where a chattel is lent by its owner to the bailee for the express purpose of conferring a benefit upon the bailee, without any corresponding advantage to its owner. By English law this agreement is confined to goods, chattels or personal property, and does not, as under the Roman civil law, extend to real estate.(2 Hals., 4th, p. 849) 1, record 44, English, - gratuitous%20loan

Bargain and sale. Generally applies to land and refers to a contract for the sale of any estate or interest in real property or chattels followed by payment of the agreed purchase price. The phrase is also applied to transfer of personalty where there is an executory agreement of sale followed by a completed sale. Formerly, the Court of Chancery held that after a bargain and sale the vendor held the land to the use of, or for the benefit of, the purchaser. In 1536 the Statute of Uses executed the use in favour of the purchaser, thus giving him the same interest in the land as the vendor had. However, bargain and sale as a method of conveyancing has now become obsolete.(Yogis, p. 25) 1, record 53, English, - bargain%20and%20sale

Caramel fuel was and, it seems, may still be, used in submarines. Caramel fuel is composed of flat pastilles of uranium oxide enriched to about 7. 5%. The purpose of this directive is to provide you with instructions regarding the replacement of the Social Insurance Number(SIN) by either the Personal Record Identifier(PRI) or the Individual Agency Number(IAN) in the administration of the Public Service benefit plans. In June 1988, the federal government announced that the use of the Social Insurance Number would be restricted to instances specified in legislation. Consequently, a new federal government employee number, the Personal Record Identifier(PRI), was introduced. As the PRI is an internal government identifier, it cannot be released to those outside of the federal government. For this reason, the SIN has to be replaced by the Individual Agency Number(IAN) as the identifier for federal government insurers and administrators. 1, record 70, English, - Social%20Insurance%20Number%20Replacement%20Project

1, record 70, French, - Projet%20de%20remplacement%20du%20num%C3%A9ro%20d%27assurance%20sociale

Hierarchical classification. Classifiers utilizing hierarchical, or sequential, architectures generally perform well for remote sensing applications. Typically, when discriminating land cover types, there is a benefit to separating the data into general groupings rather than specific classes, as well as to removing those classes which are easily separable from the rest. This multiscale framework in terms of class separability reduces the complexity of the classifier, both in terms of training and decision making. This is because the classifier does not need to distinguish between all classes, just one class(or a few) from the rest. By employing a hierarchical classifier, different inputs can be used at each level of the overall classification process depending on the classes to be discriminated. This then allows for a possible reduction in the number of inputs, or for the use of class specific data such as topography, at a given level. The described benefits of a hierarchical architecture generally lead to an increase in classification accuracy.... A hierarchical version of the above MRF-based classifier was developed to account for the class dependent variation in backscatter associated with changes in incidence angle. A methodology for "correcting" SAR data according to class-specific models is described and is then presented as the first level in the architecture of the hierarchical classifier. 3, record 77, English, - hierarchical%20classification

Time-lapse (or 4D) seismic is a reservoir monitoring technology that has matured to the point where it can be considered a reliable reservoir surveillance tool. By analyzing differences of multiple seismic surveys acquired over a producing reservoir and by integration with conventional reservoir monitoring tools, 4D seismic data can provide valuable insight on dynamic reservoir properties such as fluid saturation, pressure, and temperature. Many published case studies demonstrate that 4D seismic technology can optimize reservoir management and improve production efficiency. 3, record 81, English, - 4D%20seismic%20technology

While the serialization syntax shows the structure of an RDF model most clearly, often it is desirable to use a more compact XML form. The RDF abbreviated syntax accomplishes this. As a further benefit, the abbreviated syntax allows documents obeying certain well-structured XML DTDs to be directly interpreted as RDF models. 1, record 92, English, - interpreted

Phillips has released an AFDX(Avionics Full Duplex Switched Ethernet) PCI Mezzanine(PMC) card for avionics simulation and test. AFDX is an advanced protocol standard to interconnect avionics subsystems. Its first major use will be in the Airbus A3XX. The PMC694/AFDX module is among the first products on the market, supporting this new avionics bus. It is designed for applications like end system simulation, test systems and prototyping of avionics components. The greatest benefit from this implementation can be gained when used in the Phillips ADS-3000 V2 environment. The standard is based on widely approved and adopted standards like ethernet(IEEE 802. 3) and IP/UDP(Internet Protocols). Modifications to these standards have been made to cope with the need for deterministic response times and limited jitter. 4, record 97, English, - Avionics%20Full%20Duplex%20Switched%20Ethernet

Larger companies, particularly publicly held corporations, are required to use the accrual basis of accounting. From the accrual accounting perspective, the purpose of the expenditure determines whether or not the expenditure is an expense at the time of payment. For example, if a business expends cash for office supplies, no expense occurs until the office supplies are used in business operations. The spending of cash is not the "critical event". Thus, when a business buys postage stamps, it has purchased an "asset", that is, an item that has a future potential to benefit the company. If the stamps are used to mail an invoice to a customer or supplier, then the "expense" occurs because the stamp(asset) has no further benefit for the company. 3, record 98, English, - accrual%20accounting%20perspective
