One of the core principles of data protection is the principle of purpose limitation, as data controllers need to specify the exact purpose prior to starting processing activities. In the case of health data, the purpose limitation principle is not absolute, as secondary use of health data is often vital for management and improvement of public health systems. As such, health-related data, including data on various determinants of health, are an important resource for policy-making, health systems management and research. 2, record 16, English, - health%20data

A territory that entered the Canadian Confederation in 1898 as the "Yukon Territory", out of the District of Yukon created in 1895 in the Northwest Territories. Until 1999, the Yukon used to stand eleventh in the order of precedence established according to the year of entry into Confederation of the ten provinces, then of the territories, listed, by convention, before the Northwest Territories even if the latter entered Confederation 28 years before. It now stands twelfth, after the Northwest Territories and before Nunavut. On March 27, 2002, the name was changed to "Yukon" even if the status of territory remains. 2, record 18, English, - Yukon
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The name of a territory and its form, spelling and abbreviation are to be decided by the provincial toponymy authority, with the agreement of the Government of Canada. One uses "Yukon" (or "territory of Yukon") for the geographical entity, "Yukon" for the provincial administration or as the short form, and "Yk." as the abbreviation to be officially recognized by the toponymic authority, a change from the previous "Y.T.". 2, record 18, English, - Yukon

Approved by ISO, the Canada Post two-character symbol is YT (or CA-YT), [to be changed to YK (or CA-YK) if a request to that extent is made and accepted]. This symbol is the same in all languages and must be used only in postal addresses and statistical charts where the identification of provinces and territories is restricted to two characters. A two-character territorial symbol must not be used instead of the abbreviation in a text or on a geographical map, a poster or a road sign. 2, record 18, English, - Yukon
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 3 OBS
The use of the definite article in English before "Yukon" is dependent upon how it is used in the context. If "Yukon" modifies another term, then the article is omitted. e. g. Yukon Indians comprise 25% of the population of the territory. If "Yukon" takes the inflected genitive('s), then the use of the article is optional. e. g.(the) Yukon's wildlife resources;(the) Yukon's native people. In every other case, the use of the definite article would be in keeping with common usage as it signals the absence of a generic geographic feature. Hence we say "the Mediterranean"(implied : Sea), "the Philippines"(implied :"Islands"). Currently, there is some debate as to the appropriateness of the definite article, all the more since "the Yukon"(implied :"territory") is seeking political parity with the other established "provinces"(statement of 1991). [Usage can thus tend to drop the article as is the case before the name of a province. ] 6, record 18, English, - Yukon

Less visible on the modern landscape is production [of salt] by evaporation of brine in pots over fires, a technique that leaves "briquetage. "This is a term that archaeologists use worldwide to describe the broken pots used for evaporating brine over fires.... At Sacapulas, brine collected from a spring is poured through salty soil in large containers with holes in the bottom to enrich the salt content of the brine. The enriched brine is then poured into a couple of dozen open bowls elevated above a slow fire on a table inside a building. By continuously pouring brine into the bowls, the water slowly evaporates, and loose salt fills the bowls; the salt is then transferred into a large jar. Sometimes salt is further heated to form solid cakes, in which case the bowls must be broken to extract the salt cakes. 3, record 20, English, - salt%20cake

Barley is also used to produce barley malt. In this case the whole barley seed is steeped in water to allow the live germ to sprout... The sprouted barley is next dried under mild heat so as not to inactivate its enzymes. The sprouted dried barley, now known as malt, is used in the brewing industry to help digest starchy material into sugars for rapid yeast fermentation. The malt also has a distinctive flavor which contributes to the flavor of brewed beverages such as beer. Malt further adds flavor to breakfast cereals and malted-milk concentrates. Another problem involving the use of words is the question of "conditional assault". If one person points a gun at another and says, "Your money or your life!", it might be argued that it is not assault because the plaintiff may avoid any harm by complying with the condition and parting with his money. It could be contended that the requirement of immediacy is absent. Such an argument is fallacious, however, for one cannot impose conditions upon another, when one has no legal right to do so. It would be otherwise of a landowner said to a trespasser, "Get off my land or I’ll throw you off, "for in such a case, the landowner is only threatening to do what he is entitled to do anyway. 1, record 47, English, - conditional%20assault

2, record 47, French, - voies%20de%20fait%20conditionnelles

Coated Felts. Some current thinking favours the use of coated organic roofing felts instead of saturated felts for the construction of built-up roofing membranes. In this case, the bitumen required for waterproofing has already been applied in a uniform coating at the manufacturing plant, and application is essentially the sticking together of sufficient layers to give the strength required. The heavier grades of coated felt have been used for many years in this and other countries as a single-layer roofing material on simply pitched roofs of barns and sheds. In more sophisticated roofing systems, several layers of coated felt are used with hot or cold adhesives and a surface protection of gravel or weathering coat of clay-stabilized asphalt emulsion. 2, record 61, English, - coated%20felt

Feutres recouverts d'enduit. 2, record 61, French, - feutre%20enduit

Words of inheritance are words of limitation indicating the character of the estate granted (or devised) ... Many jurisdictions have done away with the necessity of using technical words limiting estates in land, to the end that a fee estate may be created without words of inheritance. Exactly why the words "and his heirs" where necessary to create an estate in fee simple is unclear.... was, however, necessary to use the plural word ’heirs" because if the grant were to a person and his "heir", that word could refer only to the person who would be the heir at the death of the grantee, so as not to be a word of inheritance or limitation. In such a case, at common law, the grantee would get only a life estate.(Anger and Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, pp. 101-102). 1, record 70, English, - words%20of%20inheritance

The distinction which is more significant than the distinction between freehold and leasehold ownership is the distinction between the long and the short lease. For most purposes a 999-year lease may be indistinguishable from freehold ownership; a weekly tenancy is much less valuable and its value will depend on the degree of security available. In the case of a 999-year lease the whole of the capital value more or less has been transferred to the tenant. In the case of a weekly tenancy-apart from his security-the tenant is receiving nothing but the present use of the property and the capital value remains in the landlord.(Harwood, 1975, p. 499). 1, record 71, English, - short%20lease

"Special property"... may mean that the subject-matter is incapable of being in the absolute ownership of any person. Thus a man may have a property in deer in a park, hares or rabbits in a warren, fish in a pond, etc. ;but it is only a special or qualified property, for if at any time they regain their natural liberty his property instantly ceases, unless they have "animus revertendi".(A) person may have a special property in a thing in the sense that he can only put it to a particular use. Thus, in the case of a bailment, the bailee has a special property in the thing bailed, for he is only entitled to deal with it in accordance with the... bailment....(Jowitt's, 2nd ed., 1977, p. 1447) 1, record 72, English, - special%20property

In the case of(navigable rivers) the public have a right to use the river for navigation similar to the right which they have to pass along a public highway through private land, and an artificial navigable river may be dedicated as a public highway, but the analogy between a navigable river and a public highway is not complete. In the case of the soil of navigable rivers there may be also public rights incidental to the right of navigation, such as fixing moorings and anchoring. As regards the right of access, it is settled that in general a riparian owner on a navigable river has, subject to the public right of navigation, the same right of access to the river as such an owner has on a non-navigable river.(Gale on Easements, 14th ed., 1972, p. 237). 1, record 73, English, - right%20of%20navigation

Nature of gratuitous loan for use. In deposit and mandate the bailor has all the advantages of the bailment. In gratuitous loan for use the reverse is the case. This is a bailment where a chattel is lent by its owner to the bailee for the express purpose of conferring a benefit upon the bailee, without any corresponding advantage to its owner. By English law this agreement is confined to goods, chattels or personal property, and does not, as under the Roman civil law, extend to real estate.(2 Hals., 4th, p. 849) 1, record 78, English, - gratuitous%20loan

The principle of free alienability soon reasserted itself, however, and various disentailing methods were devised to permit the tenant in tail in possession to bar the entail and to obtain a fee simple. These included the warranty, the fine and the common recovery. The most effective of these, the common recovery, was confirmed by the courts in Taltarums's Case in 1472. Both the fine and common recovery were in common use until they were replaced in the 19th century by the simple statutory method of the disentailing assurance.(Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 28) 1, record 79, English, - disentailing%20assurance

When the thing is incapable of manual delivery, or where the situation of the parties or the circumstances of the case will not admit of it, it may be symbolic or constructive. In spite of the common use of the adjectives symbolic and constructive in the alternative, it should be noticed that there is a significant distinction between them, which the courts will, when the decision of the case requires it, not be loath to make. A delivery is constructive, when in place of actual manual transfer the donor delivers to the donee the means of obtaining possession and control of the subject matter, or in some other manner relinquishes to the donee power and dominion over it.(Brown, 3rd ed., 1975, p. 92). 1, record 81, English, - constructive%20delivery

The drawbridge of ancient and medieval periods was built for military purposes. It was constructed to bridge the moat around the castle or fortified town and to be raised in case of attack. The open leaf also constituted an additional barricade across the entrance to the fortification. Many of these early structures were operated by a lever system. One end of the lever was connected to the free end of the span by chains, and the other was actually counterweighted. An arrangement of counterweights attached to chains running over pulleys and connected to the free end of the span was also much in use. 1, record 86, English, - drawbridge

The entrapped enzymes should be differentiated into matrix-entrapped and microencapsulated enzymes, while the bound enzymes should be subdivided into adsorbed and covalently bound enzymes. It was recognized that most, but not necessarily all, immobilized enzyme systems will fit within this scheme.... In the case of covalently bound or cross-linked enzyme, the enzyme itself is probably the weakest chemical link in the system. Two main types of sample splitter are in common use, known as calibrated lead devices, and dividing valves. Most of these are based upon the principle that the head of the capillary column constitutes only a small proportion of the total outlet from the sample injection block. As the carrier gas enters the block it carries a small amount of the sample into the capillary column while the remainder is vented away through a larger opening. This can be done by having the capillary column held at the axis of a circular hole in the injection block, or by having it forming a narrow arm of a T-or Y-piece at the column head. In either case the amount going into the capillary column can often be further regulated by means of a tapered needle control. 1, record 98, English, - sample%20splitter

When considering the energy consumption of a household, home appliances account for a large portion of energy usage. The energy consumption of a typical household includes lighting, cooling and heating, and home appliances. While the total energy consumption of home appliances is typically less than lighting and temperature control in a year's time, many household appliances use a significant amount of energy. The two most energy-consuming home appliances are the refrigerator and the clothes dryer. The refrigerator is always on although it consumes the most energy when the compressor cycles on to maintain the proper temperatures. Clothes dryers do not remain on, but when they are in use they consume a lot of energy. Though energy costs and types vary by location and type of dryer, the typical clothes dryer averages $85. 00 US Dollars(USD) annually to operate. Other high-energy usage household appliances include ovens, microwaves, water heaters, automatic dishwashers and stove tops. Generally, the home appliances that are used to create heat(or in the refrigerator's case remove heat) use the most energy. Smaller home appliances including coffee pots, toasters, and fans consume less energy overall, but the actual usage of any appliance depends greatly on its frequency of use. 3, record 99, English, - high%20energy%2Dconsuming

The term "energy-consuming" may also mean in French "consommation d’énergie," in a general sense. When used in the sense of "énergivore" that is the consumption of a lot of energy, "energy-consuming," for less ambiguity should be preceeded by a modifier, such as : high, major, most: "one of the major energy-consuming sectors," "the two most energy-consuming home appliances," "high energy-consuming firm." 4, record 99, English, - high%20energy%2Dconsuming
