A territory that entered the Canadian Confederation in 1898 as the "Yukon Territory", out of the District of Yukon created in 1895 in the Northwest Territories. Until 1999, the Yukon used to stand eleventh in the order of precedence established according to the year of entry into Confederation of the ten provinces, then of the territories, listed, by convention, before the Northwest Territories even if the latter entered Confederation 28 years before. It now stands twelfth, after the Northwest Territories and before Nunavut. On March 27, 2002, the name was changed to "Yukon" even if the status of territory remains.

The name of a territory and its form, spelling and abbreviation are to be decided by the provincial toponymy authority, with the agreement of the Government of Canada. One uses "Yukon" (or "territory of Yukon") for the geographical entity, "Yukon" for the provincial administration or as the short form, and "Yk." as the abbreviation to be officially recognized by the toponymic authority, a change from the previous "Y.T.".

Approved by ISO, the Canada Post two-character symbol is YT (or CA-YT), [to be changed to YK (or CA-YK) if a request to that extent is made and accepted]. This symbol is the same in all languages and must be used only in postal addresses and statistical charts where the identification of provinces and territories is restricted to two characters. Coated Felts. Some current thinking favours the use of coated organic roofing felts instead of saturated felts for the construction of built-up roofing membranes. In this case, the bitumen required for waterproofing has already been applied in a uniform coating at the manufacturing plant, and application is essentially the sticking together of sufficient layers to give the strength required. The heavier grades of coated felt have been used for many years in this and other countries as a single-layer roofing material on simply pitched roofs of barns and sheds. In more sophisticated roofing systems, several layers of coated felt are used with hot or cold adhesives and a surface protection of gravel or weathering coat of clay-stabilized asphalt emulsion.

Clothes dryers do not remain on, but when they are in use they consume a lot of energy. Though energy costs and types vary by location and type of dryer, the typical clothes dryer averages $85. 00 US Dollars(USD) annually to operate. Other high-energy usage household appliances include ovens, microwaves, water heaters, automatic dishwashers and stove tops. Generally, the home appliances that are used to create heat(or in the refrigerator's case remove heat) use the most energy. Smaller home appliances including coffee pots, toasters, and fans consume less energy overall, but the actual usage of any appliance depends greatly on its frequency of use.

The term "energy-consuming" may also mean in French "consommation d’énergie," in a general sense. When used in the sense of "énergivore" that is the consumption of a lot of energy, "energy-consuming," for less ambiguity should be preceeded by a modifier, such as : high, major, most: "one of the major energy-consuming sectors," "the two most energy-consuming home appliances," "high energy-consuming firm."

«C'est très énergivore de faire ça...». Le néologisme énergivore est pertinent et pratique. Toutefois, il n'est pas correctement utilisé dans l'exemple ci-dessus. On peut dire d'un appareil électroménager qu'il est énergivore (c'est-à-dire qu'il consomme beaucoup d'énergie). Par contre, on ne peut pas vraiment dire que c'est énergivore de faire quelque chose. Dans l'exemple ci-dessus, il aurait été plus juste de dire «C'est une pratique très énergivore».
