Installation of underground storage tank system... The New Mexico Underground Storage Tank Regulations(USTR) require performance standards for new UST systems and upgrading older systems. These standards are aimed at prevention of releases due to structural failure, corrosion, spills and overfills as long as the UST system is used to store regulated substances. For new tanks four options exist : fiberglass reinforced plastic(FRP) ;steel, if cathodically protected; a Steel-FRP composite; or metal with no corrosion protection of certain soil conditions exist. New piping that routinely contains product must also meet the requirements. Acceptable piping materials are FRP, cathodically protected steel(coated and anodes attached) or unprotected metal, if approved.

Class IV power supplies AC loads that can be interrupted indefinitely without affecting personnel or plant safety. Typical loads on a Class IV system are normal lighting and the primary heat transport pump motors. During normal operation, the UST [unit service transformer] carries the reactor unit loads. Should the need arise; the loads can be supplied fully by the SST [system service transformer]. Thus, the electrical grid system serves as an emergency power supply for the Class IV system.

On peut déconnecter indéfiniment les charges raccordées à l'alimentation électrique de catégorie IV, sans affecter la sécurité du personnel ou la sûreté de la centrale. Sont raccordées au circuit de catégorie IV, des charges comme l'éclairage normal et les moteurs des pompes du circuit caloporteur. En condition normale d'exploitation, le transformateur d'alimentation du réacteur fournit l'énergie aux charges du réacteur. Au besoin, ces mêmes charges peuvent être complètement prises en charge par le transformateur d'alimentation des systèmes. En cas d'urgence, le réseau électrique prend la relève et alimente les charges raccordées au réseau de catégorie IV.
