An energy performance contract(EPC) is a performance-based financing mechanism that enables a client organization to leverage the technical and financial capacity of an energy service company(ESCO) to design, build, and secure financing to improve energy management practices and/or retrofits within a facility or group of facilities. This contracting model is a low-risk, turnkey service that delivers guaranteed energy and cost savings. The ESCO assumes some, or all, of the initial capital costs, and the client repays the ESCO over a specified period from the resulting utility cost savings. After the contract closes, the client receives ongoing savings from energy, GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions, and utility costs. 2, record 1, English, - energy%20performance%20contract

It is distinguished from repairs or replacements by the fact that the original character is improved and the value is increased. Also may arise from a physical change external to the property such as street improvements, improved drainage facilities, etc. Their measure of value is not in actual cost, but in enhanced value imparted to the property. 1, record 12, English, - betterment

An optimal monetary policy would be one that maximizes expected utility. But, recent literature on the analysis of monetary policy in sticky-price DGE [dynamicgeneral equilibrium] models has developed a more direct approach to the formulation of monetary policy objective functions. Goodfriend and King point out that, leaving out issues related to the Friedman rule(or, equivalently, assuming positive nominal interest rates), an optimal monetary policy should stabilize the markup of prices over marginal costs(real marginal cost). 1, record 13, English, - optimal%20monetary%20policy

The person-trade-off approach is the very essence of the saved-young-life equivalent (SAVE) procedure, which has been proposed as an alternative to the QALY procedure. Saving a young person from dying and restoring him or her to a healthy life is chosen as a reference outcome. This outcome is assigned the value 1. Other outcomes are described in terms of a) how severely ill the patients are before treatment and b) how much they are helped. People are asked to compare pairs of outcomes in terms of equivalence of numbers of people heated. This establishes the person trade-offs in terms of value in a direct way. Outcomes rather than health states are then assigned values on a 0-1 scale such as to encapsulate the observed trade-offs. 2, record 18, English, - saved%20young%20life%20equivalent

Computer simulation of single-well steam assisted gravity drainage(SW-SAGD).... Steam assisted gravity drainage(SAGD) is an effective method of producing heavy oil and bitumen. In a typical SAGD approach, steam is injected into a horizontal well located directly above a horizontal producer. A steam chamber grows around the injection well and helps displace heated oil toward the production well. Single-well(SW) SAGD attempts to create a similar process using only one horizontal well. This may include steam injection from the toe of the horizontal well with production at the heel. Obvious advantages of SW-SAGD include cost savings and utility in relatively thin reservoirs. However, the process is technically challenging. To improve early-time response of SW-SAGD, it is necessary to heat the nearwellbore area to reduce oil viscosity and allow gravity drainage to take place. 1, record 22, English, - single%2Dwell%20steam%20assisted%20gravity%20drainage

2, record 22, French, - drainage%20gravitaire%20assist%C3%A9%20par%20injection%20de%20vapeur%20sur%20puits%20unique

The major competitor of the propeller system is the vertical-axis Darrieus rotor. This is a lift device having curved blades with airfoil cross sections. Darrieus rotors have low starting torques but high tip speed ratios and, therefore, relatively high power outputs for their weight and cost. They are very efficient, but are not self-starting. Hence the machine is connected to a utility grid so that the generator can drive the rotor to a self-sustaining speed or is hybridized with a self-starting, but less-efficient Savonius rotor. 1, record 29, English, - hybrid%20Darrieus%2DSavonius%20rotor

the difference between reproduction cost new or replacement cost new of the improvements and the present worth of those improvements, both measured as of the date of the appraisal. In measuring accrued depreciation, the appraiser is interested in identifying and measuring the loss in utility experienced by the subject structure in its present condition, as compared to the utility it would have as a new improvement representing the highest and best use of the site. The expression "accrued depreciation" is by far the most frequently used of these two terms. An "external economy" is defined as a favorable effect on one or more persons that emanates from the action of a different person or firm; it shifts the cost or utility curve of each person it helps, and such an externally caused shift should be distinguished from any international movement along the affected individual' s own cost curve. External economies have a considerable importance in connection with government activities that provide benefits to many individuals(so-called "public goods"). 1, record 37, English, - external%20economy
