CONT

In economics, the term "bliss point"(or "saturation point") is used as an ideal, desirable level of consumption in which the given individual is completely blissful and it is impossible to improve his or her well-being in any way with further consumption.... the function of utility is frequently drawn as a hill, and the bliss point is its peak.

CONT

Ripple control generally refers to systems that are applied to electrical networks for demand side management purposes. They offer a means of communication from a central point to any point on the LV [Low-Voltage] network for action at end-users’ premises. Ripple control is mainly dedicated to mass applications but individual and specific applications can also be addressed. Applications are easily programmed by the operator in control consoles and receivers (Stand-alone receivers beside the meter or receiver integrated into electronic meters).

CONT

Ripple control is a well proven technology since many decades to control consumers in the whole grid for load optimization. This will be done switching on/off e. g. storage heatings, direct controlled heatings, etc. as well as tariff switching, monthly demand reset in electricity meters, and the control of other consumers like street lighting, etc. The components of a ripple control(RC) system are the load control centre, installed in the utility control level, which controls all connected substations. There are installed the RC transmitters with the couplings, which inject the RC signals into the grids, and in the grids there are RC receivers at the consumers site, which execute the transmitted commands.

CONT

There are six main types of electricity pricing plans: ... All inclusive. The electricity company is able to control power to your hot water-cylinder using ripple control. ... Controlled - two meter. The electricity company is able to control power to your hot-water cylinder using ripple control. You have separate meters for generalpower and controlled power. ... Day/Night - controlled. You are charged different rates during the day and night. The electricity company is able to control power to your hot-water cylinder using ripple control.

CONT

Founded in 1971, COST is an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research, allowing the co-ordination of nationally-funded research on a European level. COST actions cover basic and pre-competitive research as well as activities of public utility. The goal of COST is to ensure that Europe holds a strong position in the field of scientific and technical research for peaceful purposes, by increasing European co-operation and interaction in this field.

  • Electrical Power Supply
DEF

The highest level of power demand by customers on a power system within a specified period, usually a year,(i. e., on a major utility, a minor utility or an individual industry generating its own electricity).

CONT

The peak demand is measured in kilowatts or multiples of kilowatts.

French

Domaine(s)

DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Artificial Intelligence
DEF

A computer program that uses knowledge and inference procedures to solve difficult problems. The knowledge necessary to perform at such a level, plus the inference procedures used, can be thought of as a model of the expertise of skilled practitioners. In contrast to expert systems, knowledge systems are often designed to solve small, difficult problems rather than large problems requiring true human expertise. In many cases, small knowledge systems derive their utility from their userfriendly nature rather than from their ability to capture knowledge that would be difficult to represent in a conventional program.
