Recombination. Reversal of the ionisation by the bonding of free electrons with positive ions. During recombination, the energy invested for ionisation is released again. It is emitted in the form of ultraviolet radiation. This UV [ultraviolet] radiation causes further plasma reactions, in particular the splitting of molecules into radicals. If the ions of a plasma find no reaction partner, they will recombine to form a neutral atom in a matter of split seconds. 2, record 10, English, - recombination

Most sunscreens work by containing either an organic chemical compound that absorbs ultraviolet light (such as oxybenzone) or an opaque material that reflects light (such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide), or a combination of both. In inks this works by UV [ultraviolet], light, or electron beam radiation illuminating a printed film, and some of this energy is absorbed to drive a chemical reaction to polymerization [...] In curing by UV or light radiation, materials are added which absorb the radiation, and the energized molecule then causes a chemical reaction to start, which then drives the polymerization. These molecules are called photoinitiators. Two main groups of prepolymers materials are used today [...] Cyclic epoxides, the polymerization of which can be initiated by acids. These acids can be generated from molecules, which absorb radiation, and then break down acids. This process is called cationic curing. 2, record 30, English, - cationic%20curing

Factors that affect the ageing of building materials are UV light, temperature, and moisture from RH, precipitation and driving rain. UV radiation probably contributed most to the degradation of the coating and the substrate. Much research is done on the performance of materials due to ageing both by artificial ageing(accelerated) and natural weathering condition(field exposure) of the material. Ahola(1993) studied the effect of ageing on the water vapour permeability and found that the water vapour permeability decreased when exposed to the natural climate for one year. This was interpreted as due to loss of residual solvent, leaching out of low-molecular-mass components, viscous flow of a binder and migration of emulsifiers to the surface. 2, record 36, English, - degradation%20device

UV radiation at 254 nm from a low-pressure mercury lamp shines on the entrance of a flow cell and is transmitted through this sample cell and strikes the analytical prototube. Radiation from the source also is directed through a neutral-density filter, and then to the reference photocell. Current from these photocells is fed to log amplifiers, which generate an output linear with solute concentration. Antioxidants, discussed in the previous section, are usually effective heat and ultraviolet stabilizers for polypropylene. 1, record 39, English, - heat%20stabilizer
