The lateral pivot shift test of McIntosh. The examiner lifts the foot of the extended, internally rotated leg with one hand, forces the knee into valgus with the other hand by pushing on the side of the calf, and slowly flexes the knee while maintaining the valgus stress. In a positive test a "subluxation snap"... will occur at about 30-40°. The test is positive in the presence of anterior cruciate insufficiency. 1, record 1, English, - pivot%20shift%20test%20of%20McIntosh

2, record 1, French, - man%26oelig%3Buvre%20de%20McIntosh

Losee's test... is similar to the jerk test, in that the limb is moved from flexion to extension. If the left knee is being tested, the examiner stands to the left of the patient, grasps the foot with his left hand, flexes the knee to about 40° and uses his abdomen as a fulcrum to apply a valgus stress to the knee. With his right hand he increases the valgus pressure, placing the fingers on the patella and the thumb behind the fibular head..., while simultaneously pulling the upper tibia forward. On subsequent extension, during which the lower leg may rotate inward, a lateral snapping will occur between the femur and tibia at about 20° if there is an anterior cruciate insufficiency with anterolateral rotatory instability... 1, record 2, English, - Losee%26rsquo%3Bs%20test

In the jerk test of Hughston, the examiner flexes the knee to about 60°, grasps and internally rotates the distal tibia, and with his other hand applies a valgus stress to the knee. He then gradually extends the knee, maintaining the internal rotation and valgus pressure. The femoral condyle remains behind the summit of the plateau until, at about 20-30° flexion, the tightening posterior structures of the popliteus corner pull the tibial plateau back, and the subluxation relocates with a jerk. This test is positive in essentially the same injuries as the lateral pivot shift test of McIntosh... 1, record 3, English, - jerk%20test

A test for ligamentous instability of the knee performed by stabilizing the femur while placing a valgus stress on the knee by abducting the leg. A moderate joint line separation with the knee fully extended indicates a tear of the medial collateral ligament and the posterior capsule. If the test is only positive in 30 degrees of flexion, it represents an isolated medial collateral ligament tear. A marked medial joint line opening in extension is only possible when both cruciate ligaments are also torn. 3, record 4, English, - abduction%20test

1, record 4, French, - man%26oelig%3Buvre%20d%27abduction
