The Higgs potential determines whether the Universe is in one of two states : a true vacuum, or a false vacuum. A true vacuum is the stable, lowest-energy state, like sitting still on a valley floor. CONT

The bison pound consisted of a series of posts from 15 to 25 cm in diameter placed in the ground to a depth of 20-40 cm. The posts were placed among the trees in a long row that was about 1. 5 m wide.... The bison were driven over the edge of the steep valley wall where they ran and tumbled into the structure at the bottom of the valley.

OBS

buffalo pound: "Buffalo" is the popular name often used to describe North American bison; however, this is a misnomer. In fact, buffalo are distinctly different animals from bison. Although both bison and buffalo belong to the same family, Bovidae, true "buffalo" are native only to Africa and Asia.

CONT

Bounded aquifers. Pumping tests sometimes have to be performed near the boundary of an aquifer. A boundary may be either a recharging boundary(e. g. a river or a canal) or a barrier boundary(e. g. an impermeable valley wall). When an aquifer boundary is located within the area influenced by a pumping test, the general assumption that the aquifer is of infinite areal extent is no longer valid.

DEF

A terrace like ridge consisting of stratified sand and gravel formed as a glaciofluvial or glaciolacustrine deposit between a melting glacier or a stagnant ice lobe and a higher valley wall or lateral moraine, and left standing after the disappearance of the ice...

OBS

A kame terrace terminates a short distance downstream from the terminal moraine; it is commonly pitted with kettles and has an irregular ice-contact slope.

CONT

Today, many options using concrete are available; new concepts are emerging and the art is constantly improving.(...) The circular bin is usually preferred since it is the cheapest shape to build, requiring the least amount of reinforcing steel and wall thickness to handle the stresses. It is also easier to build with moving or jump framework, surface finishing is easier, there are no corners for grain hangups, and hopper bottoms are conical with no valley angles. Square concrete bins nested together with common walls, may be advantageous where space is at a premium.

CONT

It usually coincides with a break in slope and the upper limit of an unweathered rock on a valley wall or a nunatak; but the trimline of a long-extinct glacier may be marked by a sharp change in the age, constitution, or density of vegetation.
