The Common Aero Vehicle is a maneuvering reentry vehicle capable of carrying a payload(primarily munitions) down from a suborbital or orbital atmospheric reentry and either impacting a target directly or dispensing munitions at a chosen dispense location and condition. CAV has a relatively high hypersonic lift to drag ratio(L/D) to give good cross-range. CAV cross-range is roughly 1000 times the hypersonic L/D and typical CAV hypersonic L/Ds of 2. 0-3. 0 thus give 2000-3000 nautical miles of cross-range. CAV needs to be deployed at very high velocities to be effective and Mach numbers less than 20 for suborbital deliveries produce relatively short ranges and cross-ranges. 2, record 5, English, - common%20aero%20vehicle

Systems Analysis of a Future Semi-Reusable Launcher, Based on a High Thrust Bleed Cycle Rocket Engine. In this paper a high thrust, cryogenic bleed cycle engine, to be used for propulsion of future reusable booster stages(liquid fly back boosters), of an expendable heavy lift launcher, is analyzed. The system configuration remains unchanged, in terms of total available fuel and the number of engines, hereas the variation of the engine parameters result in a change of total system mass and payload capacity. Different arrangements of bleed cycles are being analyzed, and compared with each other. The paper describes a simplified heat transfer model, used in the analysis of the suggested cycles. The thrust chamber design is discussed and a preliminary design of the booster vehicle, including a trajectory analysis, is presented. 3, record 9, English, - semi%2Dreusable%20launcher

In applying the principles of electrostrictive hydrodynamics(electrohydrodynamics) it is immediately clear to the aeronautical engineer that a large electrode area is required. Just as a sailboat uses a sail, any vehicle utilizing electrohydrodynamic propulsion must employ a large ballistic electrode to integrate the pressure of plasma "winds" to provide lift or forward thrust. These so-called "electric winds" are ion flows, moving at relatively high velocity. The flows may take various patterns determined by 1) The manner in which the flows are generated, and 2) The curvature of the surfaces which confine them. 1, record 11, English, - electrohydrodynamic%20propulsion

The speed and altitude regimes of these vehicles are bounded by physical and practical limits. At a given altitude, dynamic pressure limitations set maximum and minimum speeds; the minimum is what it takes to lift the vehicle, and the maximum is what the structure can be built to stand. The limits form a hypersonic funnel, a band of increasing Mach and increasing altitude within which lies the optimum cruising envelope for each vehicle. 1, record 22, English, - hypersonic%20funnel
