The Pan-American Highway is a network of roads nearly 48, 000 kilometres(29, 800 miles) in total length. Except for an 87 kilometre(54 mi) rainforest gap, called the Darién Gap, the road links the mainland nations of the Americas in a connected highway system. According to Guinness World Records, the Pan-American Highway is the world's longest "motorable road". However, because of the Darién Gap, it is not possible to cross between South America and Central America by traditional motor vehicle. The Pan-American Highway system is mostly complete and extends from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, in North America to the lower reaches of South America. Several highway termini are claimed to exist, including the cities of Puerto Montt and Quellón in Chile and Ushuaia in Argentina. No comprehensive route is officially defined in Canada and the United States, though several highways there are called "Pan-American". The Pan-American Highway passes through many diverse climates and ecological types, from dense jungles to cold mountain passes. Since the highway passes through many countries, it is far from uniform. Some stretches of the highway are passable only during the dry season, and in many regions driving is occasionally hazardous. 1, record 5, English, - Pan%2DAmerican%20Highway

1, record 5, Spanish, - Carretera%20Panamericana

The Common Aero Vehicle is a maneuvering reentry vehicle capable of carrying a payload(primarily munitions) down from a suborbital or orbital atmospheric reentry and either impacting a target directly or dispensing munitions at a chosen dispense location and condition. CAV has a relatively high hypersonic lift to drag ratio(L/D) to give good cross-range. CAV cross-range is roughly 1000 times the hypersonic L/D and typical CAV hypersonic L/Ds of 2. 0-3. 0 thus give 2000-3000 nautical miles of cross-range. CAV needs to be deployed at very high velocities to be effective and Mach numbers less than 20 for suborbital deliveries produce relatively short ranges and cross-ranges. 2, record 6, English, - common%20aero%20vehicle

In basic terms, the initial NASA concept for the two-stage Space Shuttle called for a smaller manned winged vehicle to sit atop a larger manned winged vehicle. These would be pad-launched from a vertical position. The larger winged vehicle would be called the "Booster", while the smaller winged vehicle would be called the "Orbiter". The Booster would carry the Orbiter to an altitude of about 50 miles. The Orbiter would then separate and fire its own engines to reach orbit. 2, record 12, English, - winged%20vehicle

After years of study, von Hippel has come to the conclusion that about 60 miles per U. S. gallon would be the optimal fuel efficiency for a vehicle at today's energy prices. "In the U. S. I would guess that they’re going for an average of about 25 m. p. g., "he notes, "so there's a long way to go. " 1, record 17, English, - mile%20per%20gallon
