The modes of interaction with systems are becoming evermore varied and sophisticated. Many of our research projects exploit the visual analysis of the end-user in order to improve human-machine interaction. The investigation of gaze and visual attention, the identification of movements, the tracking of facial muscular movements and the recognition of facial expressions are exploited to better comprehend the user’s intention in order to supply it with a more user-friendly system. 3, record 2, English, - human%2Dcomputer%20interaction

Shortcomings in our understanding of natural language comprehension and generation have forced system developers to make more use of the visual medium (i.e., graphical displays, including animation). In this medium, human-machine communication is realized through the use of visual objects such as icons and menus. The information that the user can communicate to the machine, normally the various operations and commands that the system can realize, is structured as a specialized interface language, a visual language in the case of a graphical interface. 5, record 4, English, - human%2Dmachine%20communication

As for any other behaviour, behaviour analysis approaches verbal behaviour functionally. Therefore, the study of verbal behaviour examines first and foremost the conditions under which verbal responses are produced and their effects, rather than their form(e. g. vocal or written responses) or their structure(e. g. grammatical classification). Therefore, gestures, sign language, images or symbols selection and writing can all be used and taught to communicate and may fully satisfy the definition of verbal behaviour in the same way as vocal language. 3, record 24, English, - verbal%20behaviour

Criteria for Brain Death. The criteria for the determination of brain death were developed such that any physician in any milieu could confidently diagnose it. All criteria must be met before a diagnosis of brain death can be made : The patient must be unconscious. The patient must be unable to breathe spontaneously and would therefore be on a ventilator. There must be no response to external stimuli(verbal, pain). There must be no response(eye movement) to passive head movements or to ice water syringed into the ears. There must be no blinking in response to touching the cornea. There must be no pupil response to a bright light shone into the eyes.
