A breach of contract claim would encompass almost any breach of an obligation. The obligation might be expressly contained in an agreement or might even be implied from other terms of the agreement. The agreement could be in writing or could even be verbal. The breach of contract might give rise to a claim in damages, injunctive or other relief including specific performance.

A distinguishing characteristic between more-qualified and less qualified translators is the degree of literalness of their interpretations : those by amateur translators are typically very literal, being in many instances almost word-for-word "verbal transposition" rather than translations, whereas those by professional translators are substantially more in agreement with the idiom of the target language.

The generic term treaty is used exclusively with respect to written instruments. However, rights and obligations may also be imposed upon states by oral agreements or declarations made by heads of state or government or by their representatives acting with in the scope of their authority.

OBS

Although oral treaties are exceedingly rare (it is doubtful if any examples exist in Canadian practice), the validity or oral agreements is, in fact, expressly recognized in the International Law Commission’s draft articles of the law of treaties.

It seems that in Canadian practice ... the expression "oral treaty", could be used as a synonym of "oral agreement".

To be valid, letters which amend an offer must be signed by the party who has signed the original offer. In situations where such a letter is issued to the offeror by a departmental representative(i. e., to confirm a verbal agreement), a duplicate copy of the letter in question must be countersigned by the party who has signed the original offer and must be returned to the department.
