... a backstrap loom is characterised by a strap fixed to one end of the loom which the weaver wears around their waist, while the other end of the loom has individual straps that allow it to be anchored to a railing or pole, making the device portable. The loom allows the weaver to use their lower body to actively regulate the tension on the warp threads. 3, record 1, English, - backstrap%20loom

2, record 1, French, - m%C3%A9tier%20%C3%A0%20ceinture

Prior to European settlement, leggings were made of durable leathers and this continued in the 17th century... Leggings tended to come in two primary heights/lengths; one that just came to the knee being gartered at the knee and ankle, and the second is shaped more like chaps and having a strap at the side that ties to a waist belt. Both appear in imagery of Native Americans in the northeastern and middle colonials. 2, record 2, English, - legging

A porte tache, or flask carrier, was a strap designed to carry a powder flask and a bullet pouch, and sometimes a spanner for wheel locks. Normally this strap was attached to the waist belt on the right side and hung straight down. It was most popular during the late years of the sixteenth century and the opening years of the seventeenth. 1, record 3, English, - porte%20tache

6, record 4, French, - baudrier

In addition to their flasks or horns, the early settlers often carried a pouch for bullets. This bag, usually of soft leather, was customarily worn suspended from the waist belt on the right side. Sometimes the pouch and flask were hung together on a leather strap known variously as a flask carrier or portetache.... Another means of carrying ammunition which was popular for a time in America was the bandolier...
